As you might imagine, there has been an huge increase in demand at our local food pantry, at a time when less people are going out and giving. If you are in a position to donate and would like to do so, please note the following collections for MACC:
Friday, April 24th at St. Mary’s Church (right next to our school) from 10:00am – 11:00am
Saturday, April 25th at St. James Church from 9:00am – 12:00pm (sponsored by our local Knights of Columbus).
For both locations, please place the items in the trunk of your car. Drive up, pop your trunk, and someone will take them out for you. Please note that monetary donations are also welcome.
Donations are also still being accepted at the Community Food Pantry, 460 Main Street Monday through Thursday 9:00am – 4:00pm and Fridays from 9:00am – 2:00pm. If you would like to mail a check, that can be sent to MACC Charities, PO Box 3804, Manchester, CT 06045-3804 or donations can be done via their website: https://macc-ct.org/
Rice Bowls

Since we were not together when the money was due back, there are a few options we would like to suggest if your family was participating:
1) Donate the money to MACC (our local food pantry) during this time. As a reminder, the is a collection being held for MACC tomorrow at St. James Church from 9am – 12pm (please place the items in the trunk of your car and pop your trunk when you drive up).
2) Hang on to the rice bowl and we will collect it when we are back together to distribute as originally intended.

12 New Interactive View Boards!
/in St. James Notices /by Saint James SchoolWe are excited to announce that new, interactive View Boards are being installed in our 3rd – 6th grade classrooms this week. These new boards are also being installed in our Spanish classroom, Technology Center, and Pre-Kindergarten. The View Boards will replace the SMART Boards and bring enhanced capabilities to classroom learning (Kindergarten – 2nd grade received new boards earlier in the year). Funding for these 12 new boards came from a grant we applied for, and were awarded, by the The Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation earlier this year.

Parents, we would love to see pictures of your students at their “work station” with their Sports team gear. Box Tops Update
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolWe recently received an update from our Box Tops coordinator that we wanted to pass along. Box tops income for our school is on the decline since they have started using the Scan and Submit process, in place of physical box tops (Read More HERE). From our last contest and Box Tops submission, our school is receiving $205.90. We also received a check in December for $1286.90 bringing the total amount of Box Tops for the school year to $1492.80. (The total amount of submissions from physical box tops for this year is $1221.50; the total amount from scans via the app is $271.30).
Please continue to collect physical box tops for when we return and use the App to scan digital Box Tops if you can. We count on these funds for our school and appreciate your participation.
Welcome Back
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolWelcome back from April Break. I hope everyone had a Blessed Easter with their family and your students were able to relax and enjoy some time reading and being outside during this past week.
As noted before break, the Governor announced distance learning has been extended until May 20th. We all realize this is not ideal and everyone is dealing with this pandemic in different ways, but we appreciate your patience as we move forward as best we can. Even before anyone heard of Covid-19, the safety of our students, staff, and parents was our number one priority here at SJS and that is still the case today. I pray everyday that our families are safe during this unprecedented time. Please continue to take care of yourself and your family and when we are safely able to to be back in our classrooms, I have no doubt that our community will be stronger than ever.

Have a Blessed Easter
