Reminder: Lenten Collections at SJS

Lent is a time for us to make self-sacrifices in order to aid others.  Our faith calls on us to make this a priority and, as such, we are providing some opportunities at Saint James School for our students to participate.

Today, our Pre-K through Grade 8 students will bring home “Rice Bowls”.   Our student council members visited each classroom today to talk a little bit about what the Rice Bowls are and the support they provide.  We hope you will  have a conversation at home as well about how the Rice Bowl can be filled with change to be collected to support the needs of others who are less fortunate in our world.  Maybe this change can be earned for acts of kindness or other tasks performed for others at home or in your family’s community. You can visit to watch videos and learn more.   “Rice Bowls” are due back to homeroom teachers by April 9.

In addition, our Student Council is taking a collection for the non-profit organization Community Partners in Action.  They are in need of items for the men they serve who are moving into a working, independent environment.  If your family can contribute to this need, please have your child bring in any items to their homeroom teacher by Friday, March 27.
