Robotics Club

The Saint James School Robotics Club offers Middle School students a fun and engaging introduction to the world of engineering.  Students must work as a team – using problem solving skills, creativity and their knowledge of technology.

For the Spring 2013 project, the club built a robotic ball retrieval system designed to knock down the kickballs that get stuck on the breezeway roof during recess – without the robot itself falling off.  There were two teams of students working on the same concept – providing for some fun, friendly competition.  Each team must successfully complete a hardware and software component, each of which have their own unique challenges to overcome.

The prior year’s Robotics Club at Saint James School, consisted of building a robot that could autonomously navigate a hallway without hitting the walls.  It proved to be harder than it sounds, but students learned some subtleties along the way that enabled them to complete their mission by the club’s final meeting of the year.
