Attention Middle School Families

Middle school families (grades 6-8) are kindly asked to add following to your supply purchase for science:

  • two (2) 3-subject spiral notebooks (8.5×11 size/usually Mead or Five-Star)  (one will be used for the Fall, and a second in the Spring)
  • glue sticks

These do not need to come on the first day, you can pick them up over the Labor Day weekend and send them in on Tuesday 9/3 if you wish.

Also, a reminder that middle school students should come to school with their expandable set up according to THIS SHEET that was sent home at the end of school.

School Bus Routes

For Manchester K-8 Students that signed up for the bus, please use THIS LINK to view morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off times.  Students in the younger grades must have a parent/grandparent waiting at the stop for the bus driver to release your child off the bus.

First Day Notes

As a reminder, the first Day of School for K-8 students is this Thursday, August 29th.  As per typical 1st day of school protocol:

  • Parents: please remember to park in the Saint James Church parking lot and walk up with your student(s).  Please do NOT park in any of the teacher parking lots.
  • Students should bring all the items on their supply list with them on the first day of school.
  • First day of school gathering spot is the parking lot between the main building and preschool.  Look for the sign showing your child’s grade.  If it rains, we will be in the gym.
  • Dismissal is at 12:05pm on the first day – no lunch served except for Kindergarten (remember, Kindergartners bring a lunch from home every day).
  • After-care/before-care is available on the first day of school.  After-care students should bring lunch from home (no hot lunch served at all this day).  You must be registered for the program for the 2019-2020 school year to have your child attend.
  • All students should bring a snack and bottle of water on the first day of school.  Per school policy, please limit snacks to fruits and/or vegetables only (grades 1-8).  A bottle of water should be packed with the snack.
  • School bell to begin the day rings at 7:50am.  Please allow yourself plenty of time to park, particularly on the first day when it will be extremely busy around the school.

For K-8 students, please note that the Signed Handbook and Technology Agreement forms should be sent in to school on the first day with your child/ren. Teachers will be collecting them.

We look forward to seeing you!!

Have a GREAT Summer!

Have-a-great-summer

As another year of learning comes to a close we wish to Thank You again for choosing to be part of the Saint James School family, and for the various ways that each of you help make Saint James School such a special place! The past year has been filled with many great learning opportunities: chances for students to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Friendships and wonderful, lifelong memories have been made not only for the students – but for the parents and staff as well!

We wish everyone a healthy, relaxing Summer Vacation and look forward to see you back at Saint James School on August 29th (if you are not using the SJS Summer Program, that is)!

HSA Gives: St. Baldrick’s Reminder

Our HSA Gives/St. Baldrick’s event is fast approaching! Kids and parents are all ready for cooler, easier hairstyles for the warmer weather, so how about making a difference while you make a change?

You don’t have to shave your head (but it could be fun!).  You can also get a buzz cut or trim up to a cute bob and donate 8 or more inches of hair.  Or donate your husbands, brothers and sons to buzz their head!

Last Day of School/12:05pm Dismissal Tomorrow

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is our last day of school for the 2018-2019 school year.  Dismissal is at 12:05pm.

Students will attend Mass tomorrow at 9:15am.

Buddy Families Needed

Please help us welcome new families and friends to Saint James School by signing up to be a 2019 Buddy Family (click here to sign up to be a Buddy Family).

A Buddy Family is any current Saint James family that is willing to be a resource for questions that a new, incoming (K-8) family may have during the summer and at the start of the school year.

We typically assign each of our buddy families two new families.  If you have never been a buddy family before, please know it does not require a lot of time.

Buddy families will also receive an invitation to attend the back to school meet & sweet ice cream social (along with the new families and staff) on August 27th.

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.  Otherwise, please click on the link above to sign up and you will be contacted via e-mail in late June with more information. As always, we sincerely thank you for your support and for helping us welcome new families and friends to Saint James School!

Field Day Today

Mrs. Zorger would like to thank all our families for being flexible and helping ensure our kids had a GREAT field day today despite the rain.  Definitely a nice way for them to spend the next to last day of school, being out of the classroom and having fun with their classmates/friends.  Thank you to everyone who sent in watermelon and water and had originally volunteered their time.

An extra special thank you to the 7th grade students who ran all the stations and helped make the day special for the younger grades (and Mrs. Cattanach for running the dance party). And of course, the event chairs Mr. Green and Mrs. McQuaid – who put a lot of thought and time into coordinating today’s event.
