Today: Trimester I Mid-Term

Today marks the halfway point in the 1st trimester.  All students in grades 4 & 5 will be coming home with a progress report today.  Students in middle school (grades 6-8) will only have a progress report coming home if they have a grade of a C- or below in any subject.  These progress reports must be signed by the parent and returned to school on Monday.

It’s Basketball Sign-Up Time

The Saint James School 2022-2023 Basketball season will begin in early November.  Basketball is open to students in 4th – 8th grade.  Students interested in playing must submit the following to the main office by Friday, October 21st.  Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee spots on a team for late submissions.

1. Basketball Permission Slip

2. Appropriate Activity Fee

3. 2022-2023 Character Contract

Also, in order to participate, students must have their 2022-2023 Athletics Health Permission Form (signed by their doctor) on file with the school.  This can be submitted after 10/21, but students will NOT be able to participate in any practices, etc. until this form is on file with us. (Students running Cross Country for SJS do NOT need to submit a new form).

HSA Meeting Tonight

The Saint James School HSA will hold its monthly meeting this evening – Thursday, October 13th, at 7:00 pm in the school cafeteria.  All parents/guardians/grandparents of SJS students are welcome to attend.  When you arrive at the school for the meeting, please ring the buzzer to the left of the breezeway door and meet us in the Cafeteria.

This month’s agenda will include a discussion of Trunk or Treat, Grandparents Day, upcoming fundraisers, the Christmas Store, and more!  We can’t wait to share ideas and get your input as we work together to further enrich the experience of our children during their years at SJS!

Reminder: Grandparents Day (Grades K-5)

Saint James School is excited to celebrate and honor the Grandparents of our Kindergarten – 5th Grade students on October 28th!  Please review all the details below and complete the RSVP form by Wednesday, October 19th; Guest and dismissal information provided via this form will be shared with teachers.

Guest Arrival
We will welcome all visitors with a special program in the Gym starting at 10:00am (Gym doors will be open at 9:45am).  After the program, visitors will be guided to the classrooms to enjoy a special activity with their grandchildren.  Please make sure visitor(s) know which teacher your child has.  Also, please keep in mind when determining who to invite that our school has multiple stair levels and no elevators.

Guest Guidelines
While grandparents are our intended special guests for this day, if your K – 5 child does not have a grandparent that is able to join us, a special guest (NOT an SJS parent) is welcome to attend in place of the grandparents.  With limited space in the classroom and the nature of the day, however, if grandparents will be attending please do not invite other individuals as well.  Thank you for understanding.

Dismissal Info
October 28th is a 12:05pm dismissal day, however students may be dismissed with their grandparents when the classroom activities are complete (typically this is around 11:30am).  There is a place in the RSVP form below to note if your student will be staying until 12:05pm or being dismissed early on this day.  Older or younger siblings that are not part of this program may also be dismissed early on this day (please also provide this info in the form).
