Please Make A Call In Support of Catholic Education

Please take two minutes of your time to help voice support for legislature that supports Catholic Education in the state of Connecticut.  Fortunately the  call Rep. Rojas & Sen. Cassano and ask them to “support Senate Bill 1012 – corporate tax credits for scholarships to nonpublic schools.”  Rep. Rojas is House Chair of the Finance Committee and he   He needs to be encouraged by many voices to pass this bill out of committee and then call it for a vote in the House if it makes it out of the Senate.

Please call (860) 240-8586, ask for Rep. Rojas and  leave a message with his aide.

Please call (860) 240-5302, ask for Sen. Cassano, but you will likely leave a message with his aide.

Please forward and share with other parishioners!

This is a painless and free way to support Catholic education.  Let’s fill up their voicemail tonight!

Gym Uniform

As a clarification, students should only be wearing the white or gray short-sleeve uniform shirt on gym days, not shirts that were sold as spiritwear for the school or a particular school sport.  Gym pants/shorts may be the SJS sports-related spiritwear (otherwise, they must be plain navy).

Fidget Spinners

Several students have been bringing “Fidget Spinners” to school during the past week.  Saint James School does not allow these items during school time.  Fidget Spinners that are out of a child’s backpack while on school grounds will be confiscated and returned to the parents at afternoon pickup.  An announcement was made at school today regarding this so all students should be aware.  Thank you for helping reinforce our policies with your child(ren).

Administrative Assistant Position Update

Dear SJS families & friends,

Please help us welcome our newest addition to the Saint James School staff – Mrs. Lorna Sager – who will be taking on the role of Administrative Assistant upon Mrs. DelSignore’s retirement at the end of June.  Throughout her career, Mrs. Sager has held numerous administrative, marketing, and education-related positions, most recently with Community Health Charities.

Mrs. Sager will be working in the main office alongside Mrs. DelSignore part-time beginning this coming Monday, April 24th.  She will transition into the role full-time beginning July 1.

SJS Mass Tomorrow

There will be a school-wide mass tomorrow morning at 9:15am at Saint James Church.  Parents are welcome to attend if they wish.

Parking Issue

Mrs. Kanute would like to remind parents that they are NOT PERMITTED TO PARK, OR EVEN PULL THEIR VEHICLE INTO, THE STAFF LOT BY THE BREEZEWAY/GYM at afternoon (2:05pm) pickup.  There should not be any vehicles, besides those belonging to staff, in that breezeway lot between 7:00am and 2:45pm.

In addition, Mrs. Kanute asks again that parents/caregivers please do not park in the “No Parking” zones in front of the school building and across the street from the school.

Thank you for your attention to this.

Movie Night Was a Hit

Family Movie Night was a really fun event!  Thank you to all the families that attended.  Congratulations to first grader Noah Gendreau for winning the movie raffle!  A special thanks goes to the middle school students and their parents, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Miller and Mr. Tritt, for helping the night of the event.  If you have any feedback or comments on the event, please send an email to HSA@SaintJamesSchool.net.  The HSA looks forward to hosting another movie night in the future!
