Governor’s Bill 7150 Section 1 will require Catholic schools to reimburse towns for the state’s share of expenses for school health services. These costs will likely be passed on to Catholic school parents.
Please follow this link for more details and to contact your state legislators and the Governor: https://www.votervoice.net/CTCC/campaigns/63781/respond
We would like every family to participate in letting the Governor know this is not an acceptable way to help reduce the deficit.
Please be advised of a disturbing trend permeating the internet and social media known as the “Momo Challenge”, where a creepy, fictional character called “Momo” instructs children to do dangerous acts or they will be cursed. Information about the “challenge” has been all over social media and on the news (Click to View). While we know of no cases where local students have been involved, parents of all children should reinforce safe practices while using social media and to be vigilant in reviewing your child/ren’s online activity.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Zorger.
As a reminder, tomorrow is a $1.00 dress down day in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, with proceeds going to benefit Catholic Charities’ Family Literacy Program. Please remember:
*Students are encouraged to dress Dr. Seuss style for a $1.00 donation.
*Students in Pre-K through 3rd grade should bring a small blanket/beach towel to school for a special reading activity in the gym.
*All students should bring a Dr. Seuss book to school if they have one (please put the child’s name inside).
The Boys Varsity Gold basketball team qualified for the state basketball tournament last night by defeating St. Mary in the Central CT Deanery playoffs. The boys are back in action tomorrow night when play the winner of tonight’s St. Paul/St. Bridget matchup. Tomorrow’s game is at St. Bridget, at 7:30PM.
As a reminder, there is no school on Friday, March 8th as all teachers will be at an offsite conference for the day.
There will also be two 12:05pm dismissal days on March 20th and 21st for Spring parent/teacher conferences (aftercare will be in session).
All families should have received a Munson’s Order Form and a Munson’s Tally Form for the fundraiser. The Tally Form is where you will write down only the final total of each product sold, along with the final amount due. If you do not receive the forms or have questions, please contact parent volunteer Megan Hunt at meganhunt727@gmail.com.
Tally forms and payments are due to the school office by this Friday, March 1st. Please make checks payable to Saint James School and remember to write your child’s name & grade on ALL forms and checks. If possible, please submit just one check per order form as this greatly helps the volunteers who tally the orders for submission.
Orders will arrive in plenty of time for Easter and an e-mail will be sent in March notifying parents of the pickup date(s).
