Chess Club Starts Tomorrow

As a reminder, students that signed up and paid for the Chess Club program, the clinic begins tomorrow after school and runs until 3:15pm.  Pick-up for students will be outside the breezeway (please DO NOT buzz in to the school).

Szopka Club Schedule For This Week

The Szopka Club classroom will be open next week for the following days and times.

Members may work on their Szopka during any or all of the times.

Mon & Tue until 3:30pm.
Wed after school (12:05pm) until 2:30pm – bring lunch from home
Thu after school (12:05pm) until 2:15 – bring lunch from home

Basketball Player/Parent Meetings & Open Gyms Tonight

For everyone that signed up to play Basketball this year (grades 4-8) Parent/Player meetings are this evening:

Girls:

Player/Parent Meeting in the cafeteria: 6:00pm – 6:45pm

Immediately following (6:45pm-8:15pm) will be an OPEN GYM for all fully registered players in grades 4-8

Boys:

Player/Parent Meeting in the cafeteria: 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Open Gym for grade 7&8 boys only: 5:00pm – 6:45pm

 

As a reminder, Open Gym is time for players to work on skills, interact with coaches, and enjoy free shooting before team assignments are made.

 

Book & Art Club RSVP Grades 3&4

The first Book & Art Club for students in grades 3 & 4 will be held after school on November 5th.  If your student would like to attend, please RSVP using the permission slip below.

Concert at SJS Saturday & Instrumental Music News

This Saturday at 1:00pm the Eastern Regional band will perform a free concert in our gym.  This band includes many Saint James School instrumental music students.  All Saint James School families are welcome to attend (Mr. Corcoran encourages all instrumental music students that are not performing tomorrow to still try to be there for the concert).

On Thursday October 24th the beginning band will put on a short performance for their parents and the 4th grade at 11:00am to demonstrate what they have learned so far (information on this was sent home with beginning band students).

On Friday October 25th the Advanced Band will perform for Grandparent’s Day.

Congratulations to our all our 2019-2020 Student Council members for doing a great job with their speeches on Wednesday!

DUE Tomorrow: Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ Day RSVP Form

On Friday, October 25, 2019, Saint James School will be celebrating Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ Day with our Kindergarten – 5th grade classes.

With limited space in the classroom and the nature of the day, if a grandparent is attending, that counts as your child’s guest.

If your K-5 child does not have a grandparent that is able to join us, a special guest (not a parent) is welcome to attend in place of a grandparent.  A special person is an aunt, uncle, or a friend of the family.

Please review all the details in the attached form and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher no later than Friday, October 18th.

Last Call: Middle School Robotics Club

ALL PERMISSION SLIPS AND REQUESTED INFORMATION MUST BE IN BY TOMORROW (Friday 10/18) MORNING.

The SJS Middle School Robotics Club will be kicking off another fun year at the end of October. Open to middle school students (grades 6-8), the Robotics Club will meet select Mondays from 2:05pm until 4:00pm starting on October 28th, followed by November 18th, and December 9th (more dates to follow as the weeks progress).

This year, the Club will be led by parent volunteer Mr. Stefan Poth who works in engineering and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with our group!

As in past years, we do have a limited number of spots available for our Robotics Club.  Please fill out the attached permission slip, have your child complete the requested essay information, and return everything to the SJS main office with the Robotics Club fee of $40 (Please make check out to “Saint James School”) to aid in purchasing supplies.
