Dress Down Days Next Week
Next Week, students will have two dress down opportunities as follows:
Tuesday, March 17th: $1.00 St. Patrick’s Day/Green & White Dress Down. Funds collected will be used towards purchasing supplies for Brian Bags for the homeless.
Thursday, March 19th: Red shirts may be worn in honor of St. Joseph’s Day. This is tops only – students should still wear their uniform pants or skorts (we will be attending church on this day so all students should be in regular uniform bottoms).
Soccer Registration Information
It’s time to sign up for the 2020 Saint James Soccer season! Boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 are eligible to play. The season runs from early April through mid June. If your child is planning to participate, please click on the link below to read the detailed information from Coach Sargent. The sign-up form should be returned to the school office with the appropriate activity fee (make checks out to “Saint James School”) by March 27th. If your child has not previously participated in a sport at SJS this year, you will need to also submit the Athletics Health Form for 2019-2020 signed by your child’s doctor (see below).
Please note – we are in need of coaches, particularly for the younger grades (you do not have to have a child playing to coach). JV & Varsity Basketball Sports Banquet
Our JV and Varsity basketball teams will celebrate their season with a banquet on Monday, March 23rd at 5:30pm in the school gym. JV and Varsity basketball families are asked to RSVP to the main office using the form below by March 20th.
Instrumental Music Notice
Since there is no school next Friday, grades 6 – 8 will meet on Tuesday, March 10th. Please make sure students bring their instruments on that day.
STEM Night
All SJS families are invited to the first ever Saint James School Family STEM Night on Tuesday, March 31 in the school gym and cafeteria! Drop-in between 6:00 and 7:30pm to explore the wonderful world of STEM at our school! Families will work together to tackle some fun engineering challenges, code the Dash and Dot robots, and try out 3D design. You can also watch our 3D printer in action, meet the Middle School Robotics team and their Lego Mindstorm Robots, and see some of the fun 3D inventions our older students have created. If your family would like to attend, please RSVP by March 24th by filling out THIS FORM. We hope you will join us for this exciting evening!
Please note, this is NOT a drop-off event, children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event.
Tonight! Dine-Out at Silk City In Support of SJS
Silk City on Main Street is hosting a Dine-Out/Give Back night for our school on Friday, March 6th between the hours of 6:00pm-9:00pm. During those hours 20% of all sales (including gift cards and merchandise) will donated to Saint James School. There will be live music by Frank Breen from 7:00pm – 8:30pm.
Silk City Coffee offers coffee, espresso, tea, hot chocolate and along with other seasonal drinks. Various fresh, house made pastries are available from open to close including cinnamon buns, scones, biscuits, muffins, cookies, etc. featuring at least one gluten free option.
We look forward to seeing many of our SJS families and friends there!

Tournament Games This Weekend
Best of luck to all of our basketball teams who will be playing in their respective “State” tournaments this weekend:
The SJS JV Girls will face St. Joseph at Corpus Christi tomorrow at 12:15pm. If they win, they play again on Sunday.
The SJS JV Boys will face Holy Trinity at St. John’s (Watertown) tomorrow at 11:15am.
The SJS Varsity Girls have a “bye” on Saturday and will play at East Catholic on Sunday at 3:45pm.
