Attention Yesterday’s Chaperones

If you received a parking ticket yesterday while you were on the school field trip to Plymouth, please call the downtown coordinator, Tana Parseliti at 860 645-2101 and your ticket will be waived.  The Church lot is considered a municipal lot and has a 2-hour parking limit.  Going forward, the town will be notified when there is a scheduled field trip so you may continue to park at the church without being ticketed.

Mother/Daughter Tea

Thank you to Mrs. Davis & Mrs. Spadaccini for hosting the Mother/Daughter Tea this past Saturday at Saint James School.  In addition to tea and delicious finger foods provided by Highland Park Market, attendees were given English etiquette lessons by a local woman who is a native of England;  Attendees learned the proper way to curtsy, place their napkin on their lap, wave, and – of course – drink tea from a china cup.  There was also a fun game involving British vs. American vocabulary and crafts that included making an English “Tea Party” hat.  Below are a few pictures from this fun event.  Thank you to several of our SJS moms for sending in these pictures (click pictures to enlarge):

Saint James XC Runner is World Champion

Congratulations to Saint James School Cross Country team member Aiden Puffer (who runs with SJS because his Catholic school does not have a XC team) who set a new WORLD track 5k record for 11-year-olds (with a time of 17:06.05) in Waltham, MA over the weekend.  The previous record was 17:06.93 set in South Africa.  Aiden’s SJS teammates were very excited to hear of their friend’s accomplishment and we at SJS feel quite blessed to have him on our team.

Pre-K Hop-a-Thon Raises Money For the MDA

Congratulations to all our Pre-Kindergarten Students (and thank you to their families) for helping us raise over $660.00 to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in our annual Pre-K MDA Hop-A-Thon.  The Hop-A-Thon is part of a whole educational program that teaches our children the three core values — awareness, acceptance, and assistance — for those with special needs at an age-appropriate (preschool) level.  The money raised from our Hop-A-Thon will go towards research of over 40 forms of muscle diseases and health support services for those in need.  Below are a few pictures of our students with the “Hop” cards (click to enlarge):
