Please take a few moments to review the attached letter from the Home & School Association.

HSA 2016 Thank you letter

Attention Parents of Recent 8th Grade Graduates

Diploma covers are now available to pick-up at the SJS main office.  Please stop in sometime this week (regular hours) or next week (Summer Hours – Tu, Wed, Thurs from 9:00am – 1:00pm) to pick one up for your graduate.  We apologize that the diploma covers did not arrive in time for Friday’s Ceremony.

7th Grade Pinatas

As a fun, end-of-year project for their Spanish class, Saint James School 7th graders made Pinatas – an item traditionally associated with celebrations in Spanish-speaking countries.  Below are pictures of some of the students with their projects (click images to enlarge).  The Pinatas will be broken by the Kindergarten through 6th grade students during their field days this week.

Congratulations to the Saint James School Class of 2016!  Below are a few pictures taken today – our 8th graders’ last day as Saint James students.  Many of these boys and girls have been a part of our school since they were three, four, or five years old.  They have grown up before our eyes and we could not be more proud of all their accomplishments!

We wish the Class of 2016 much success as they move into the next phase of their academic careers and we look forward to hearing about all of their achievements in high school and the years beyond.  Please join us in prayer that God continue to grace each of them with His love and guidance throughout the years to come.

(Class of 2016 Parents: if you would like a full-size (i.e. print quality) version of any of these images e-mailed to you, please contact info@saintjamesschool.net)

Books

As a reminder, all books from the School Library and Classroom Libraries are now due back to the school.  Please note, there will be a fine for any school books not returned.

Buddy Families Still needed

We are still in need of Buddy Families to help us welcome new students and families for the 2016-2017 school year.   Please click HERE for more information or click HERE to sign up.

Dress Down Day Tuesday

There will be a school-wide dress down day this coming Tuesday, May 31st.  Please remember standard dress down day rules apply (no “short” shorts, no tank tops/sleeveless tops, if wearing tight yoga-type pants t-shirts must come down to mid-thigh, etc).

Used Book Fair Thank You!

Mrs. Carpenter would like to send out a huge Thank You to all the people who donated books to the Used Book Sale yesterday and sent money in for their children to shop with.  We raised $682.00 to add to our budget for new library books over the course of next year!  And – most importantly – the students were so excited to shop for books and were taking every opportunity to read them throughout the day yesterday!  We plan to hold another used book sale during the winter (January/February time frame) next year so please keep us in mind as you clean out your child(ren)’s bookshelves in the months to come.

Advanced Band Visits Arbors

Recently, the Saint James School Advanced Band took a bus trip to The Arbors retirement community in Manchester to play for the residents.  Students also mingled with the attendees and took turns introducing themselves, the grade they are in, and how long they have been playing for.  Unbeknownst to us, until the students began talking to the attendees, one of the residents was a former employee of Saint James School many years ago!  Many thanks to Mr. Corcoran and the Arbors for giving our students this great opportunity to give back to the community (click pictures to enlarge).

Select members of SJS band also played in New York City earlier this week and played at the Old Statehouse in Hartford today.

Important: Lunch Money

The cafeteria would like to remind parents that money for lunch or lunch accounts MUST be sent in either via a check (made out to “Manchester Hot Lunch Program”) or cash that is in an envelope labeled with “Manchester Hot Lunch Program,” the child’s name, grade, and teacher.  Teachers are currently receiving cash with nothing documenting which child it is associated with or even what it is for.  Thank you in advance for helping us keep our lunch program running smoothly.
