Upcoming VIRTUS Training (Required for SJS Volunteers)

In order to volunteer at Saint James School, volunteers are required to have a background check and attend a VIRTUS Training Session (you only need to do this one time, not every year).

If you plan to volunteer at Saint James at any point (including signing up to be a lunch helper, room parent, or field trip chaperone), please note that there are several upcoming VIRTUS sessions scheduled including September 20th (6:30pm) at East Catholic High School in Manchester, and September 28th (6:30pm) at Saint James Church.

To participate in a VIRTUS session, you must Pre-Register on the VIRTUS Site.  To access the schedule of upcoming sessions and register to attend one, click here and select Hartford, CT (Archdiocese).

Thank you for your support in helping make Saint James School a wonderful, safe place for our children!

Dress Code Guidelines

Just a reminder to parents that the dress code at SJS also includes guidelines for hair.  Designs cut into hair, colored streaks/highlights, outlandish styles, and “mohawk-style” haircuts (long on top, shaved on sides) are not allowed.  Please note that just because you see a student with a questionable haircut, does not mean that it is acceptable – it has most likely already been addressed by administration.  All students need to be in compliance with the uniform policy.  Students will be given a consequence for disregard of the uniform policy, including hair.  To play it safe, if you are unsure if something is allowed, please don’t hesitate to contact us.  Thank you again for your support and understanding of our school’s policies.

Family Dance Party Extension

There is still time to sign up for the Family Dance Party on Friday, September 22 from 6:00-7:30pm.  Please click HERE to see the flyer with additional details.  If would like to join in the fun, please RSVP as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.  Thank you!

Congratulations to our two 5th grade classes on winning our most recent Box Tops contest, with over 1,500 Box Tops submitted!.  There were over 5,000 Box Tops counted yesterday, which equates to over $50 for our school.  The next Box Tops contest will be held in November.  Thanks you to everyone who participated!

HSA Meeting Tonight

The HSA will hold its first meeting of the new school year tonight (9/14) from 7:00-8:00pm in the school cafeteria.  We strongly encourage you to attend to learn about the HSA and to hear about what events are upcoming in the next few months.

When you arrive at the school, please ring the buzzer at the breezeway doors and then head downstairs to the cafeteria.

If you cannot attend in the evening, there will also be a meeting on Friday, Sept 15 from 9:30-10:30am in the lower church.  This will be a very informal meeting so please feel free to bring along small children.
