Last Call: Staff Appreciation Luncheon Donations

In keeping with tradition, the SJS Home & School Association will organize a luncheon for the St. James School staff, as a  special way for our school community to show gratitude to the teachers, administrators, and staff for all they do for our children!

Instead of asking families to provide specific items, we are asking for a donation of $5.00 per family or any amount you are comfortable giving. The donations will be used to cover a variety of special things for our teachers and staff for a nice Staff Appreciation Luncheon on May 30th with a good amount of food and goodies.

Please send your donation in an envelope labeled Office, Attn: Melissa Breton by tomorrow.

The Staff Appreciation Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 30th and we need volunteers to help out that day. Please contact Melissa Breton at creativemelissa@yahoo.com or 860-614-7588 call/text) if you are interested in volunteering at the event or have any raffle items to donate.

Instrumental Music Notices

Mr. Corcoran would like to remind students that permission slips for the band field trip are due Thursday. The office has extras if someone needs one.  Also, please note, this Thursday –  May 17 – all students will have lessons and band (grades 4-8).

Dot and Dash Robots

Our elementary students are having so much fun working with the new Dot and Dash Robots. Using a simple coding program on the school’s iPads, students are learning to program these little blue robots to perform a huge variety of commands. Here are some pictures we snapped today of Mrs. Moran’s 3rd graders working in pairs with their new robotic friends.

 

Sports Banquet Tickets

Book & Art Club Pictures

Thank you again to Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Sabatella for another fun Book & Art Club this past Wednesday afternoon.  The group read a book about Masks from around the world, then the kids designed their own masks with markers, stickers, and glitter glue. Saint James School Foundation Golf Outing

On behalf of all of us at Saint James School, we wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the many friends of the school who participated in the Foundation’s golf tournament and dinner yesterday!  With over 120 people golfing and even more attending the dinner, Saint James School is extremely blessed to have such wonderful support from the greater Manchester community!

The Foundation had two special guest speakers at the event: Bob Gorman (Saint James School Class of 1936!!) and Ava Fiereck (Saint James School class of 2025 – yes, she is in 1st grade!!).  The Foundation members also presented Mrs. Zorger with a check for $155,000!  This money – as per the Foundation’s bylaws – will be used for partial tuition assistance (financial aid) for families in need, school technology upgrades, and margin of excellence programs (field trips, special guests, etc.) for the 2018-2019 school year.

And, of course, special thanks to the event sponsors – Tim Devanney/Highland Park Market and Bill and Carol O’Neill, as well as all the other local businesses and SJS parents who supported this annual event.  SJS parent volunteer – Mrs. Fiereck (of J.
