Book & Art Club Pictures

Thank you again to Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Sabatella for another fun Book & Art Club this past Wednesday afternoon.  The group read a book about Masks from around the world, then the kids designed their own masks with markers, stickers, and glitter glue. Here are a few pictures that Mrs. Carpenter sent in:

Saint James School Foundation Golf Outing

On behalf of all of us at Saint James School, we wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the many friends of the school who participated in the Foundation’s golf tournament and dinner yesterday!  With over 120 people golfing and even more attending the dinner, Saint James School is extremely blessed to have such wonderful support from the greater Manchester community!

The Foundation had two special guest speakers at the event: Bob Gorman (Saint James School Class of 1936!!) and Ava Fiereck (Saint James School class of 2025 – yes, she is in 1st grade!!).  The Foundation members also presented Mrs. Zorger with a check for $155,000!  This money – as per the Foundation’s bylaws – will be used for partial tuition assistance (financial aid) for families in need, school technology upgrades, and margin of excellence programs (field trips, special guests, etc.) for the 2018-2019 school year.

And, of course, special thanks to the event sponsors – Tim Devanney/Highland Park Market and Bill and Carol O’Neill, as well as all the other local businesses and SJS parents who supported this annual event.  SJS parent volunteer – Mrs. Fiereck (of J. Fiereck Photography) –  sent in this awesome photo gallery from the day’s events: https://jfiereck.shootproof.com/gallery/6632796/

Thank you again to all the members of the Foundation for all they do to support Saint James School!

ESA Follow-Up Note

Thank you to all the Saint James School families who contacted their elected officials about Educational Savings Accounts from Tuesday’s e-mail (https://saintjamesschool.net/your-voice-helps/).  It came back to us that SJS school parents did a great job making their voice heard – with many families making calls or sending e-mails to their state representative in support of school choice.

Unfortunately, the measure got shot down and was not put to a vote – but there was enough support that the Connecticut Catholic Public Affairs Conference will resurrect legislature on Educational Savings Accounts again next year.  Please take an opportunity to find out how your local and state representatives would vote and continue to make your voice heard as well.

We also wanted to give a special SJS “shout out” to a graduate of our school (and the father of two former SJS students) Representative Mark Tweedie who we heard was very helpful in trying to get this bill up for a vote.  We are fortunate to have so many former SJS students and parents in our community who continue to advocate for our great school!
