Last Day: SJS Spiritwear Fundraiser

Today is the last day to order Spirtwear!

Saint James School is offering an SJS Spiritwear fundraiser, with item delivery anticipated prior to Christmas break.  A portion of every item you purchase will go towards supporting our school.  Orders must be in by the end of the day this coming Monday (12/10).

SJS Pre-K Staff Change

At the end of the month, we will be saying goodbye to one of our beloved Pre-K teachers – Mrs. Mary Villano, who has decided to relocate to sunny Florida.  Taking over the 3-year-old program will be Mrs. Mary Holmes with Mrs. LaChance as her assistant.  A new add to the Pre-Kindergarten staff (as a teaching assistant) will be Mrs. Kate Davis.

Mrs. Davis has a degree in Child Studies and a Master’s degree in Reading & Language Arts.  She previously taught Kindergarten at St. Christopher school in East Hartford prior to taking some time off to raise her children over past several years.  Mrs. Davis, whose 3 children are enrolled at our school, has been actively involved with our Home & School Association for many years now.  We are excited to welcome her to our teaching staff!

While we are sad to say goodbye to Mrs. Villano, we know this relocation is something she has wanted to do for quite some time.  We wish her all the happiness in the world and look forward to staying in touch.

Wreath Orders Due Friday

Last call to order your Christmas Wreaths from Botticello Farms! Orders should be received in the office by Friday, December 14th to ensure you receive your vouchers for the final week of sales. Please know the vouchers have a ‘use by’ date of December 18th.

To place your coupon order, send the completed form (found here), with exact payment. Checks should be made payable to Saint James School. Return orders to the school office in an envelope marked “HSA Christmas Wreath Sale.”

This Sunday: SJS Student Mass @ St. James Church

Please join us this Sunday, December 9th at 9:00am at Saint James Church for our special SJS Mass.  Saint James School students will be serving as readers, ushers, and gift bearers and our Choir will be singing.  A reception will follow in the lower church where our students’ prize-winning szopka will be on display.

All Saint James School families are welcome regardless of faith or home church.  We hope to see you there!

Boys Varsity Basketball Recap

Congratulations to the SJS Varsity Blue team on their win over St. Chris last night winning 32 – 18.  Evan, Erik and Michael played strong defense creating multiple turnovers and capped off by Holden grabbing a final rebound to seal the victory.  Great job Sabers!

The Boys Varsity Gold team won their second consecutive game, improving their record to 5-2, by defeating St. Tim 55-40 last night. The boys are back in action Tuesday night at 7:30PM, as they host St. Bridget, here at St. James.

Christmas Store Volunteers Still Needed!

The SJS Christmas store is around the corner!  We will need volunteers to help run the store and clean up afterwards on Dec 12th. Girls Varsity Results & Tonight’s Game

An update from the Varsity Girls Coach:

ON TUESDAY, ST JAMES VARSITY GIRLS soundly defeated ST CHRIS 31-6 WITH EVERY PLAYER getting involved either defensively or offensively.

Shea led the team in scoring with 10 while Jillian added 6 and Emma 4.  Shannon added 3 followed by Alyssa, Allie, Kaitlyn, and Angie with 2 per.

Jillian and Bella led the team with 2 assists each while Sammy, Alyssa, Allie and Kaitlyn contributed with 1 per.

Defensively, ST JAMES ACCUMULATED 24 steals with Shea leading the way with 5 while Jillian and Kaitlyn added 4 per. Bella had 3, while Angie, Alyssa,  and Allie had 2 each. Emma, Sammy and Sarah rounded out the steals with 1.

Tonight ST JAMES HOSTS ST TIM in what is anticipated to be a great game (St. Tim’s won the league championship last year )

The game will be located at ST BRIDGET GYM and will start at 6:30…………..players should wear their HOME white uniforms and arrive by 6pm to warm up.

Christmas Concert Tonight

As a reminder, this evening – December 5th – is the annual Saint James School Christmas Concert featuring the Saint James School bands and Choir as well as performances by our 1st and 4th grade students.

The students put on a great performance earlier today for our students and staff to get ready for the performance this evening for parents, families, and other friends of the school who wish to attend (there is no charge and all are welcome)!

 

Performer Arrival Times & Attire

Band:
Band students should arrive at the school cafeteria between 6:00pm-6:15pm  (parents who volunteered to help dress should arrive a bit earlier).  Evening concert attire for band students is a white dress shirt and black dress pants (or black skirt for girls – skirts must be knee length or longer).  Red bow ties and cummerbunds will be given to the students to wear when they arrive.  Any alumni and parents who play wind instruments are welcome to sit in the advanced band.  Please contact Mr. Corcoran if you wish to perform.

Choir:
Attire for members of the choir is Sunday Best (no jeans, shorts, or t-shirts, sneakers, flip-flops, or sandals).  Students should arrive and report to the Cafeteria between 6:00pm – 6:15pm.  If your child is in the band, they should report to Mrs. Lindemann first to get checked in and then report to Mr. Corcoran.  A detailed notice was recently sent home (via “kid mail”) to choir parents from Mrs. Lindemann.
 
4th Grade:
All 4th grade students should arrive between 6:00pm-6:15pm and report to the cafeteria;  A notice regarding attire for the evening performance was previously sent home by the teachers.  At the end of the concert, students will be walked back to the gym for dismissal.

1st Grade:
