Tomorrow’s Mass

Due to the rainy forecast for tomorrow, we will be celebrating the Liturgy of the Word and singing Christmas Carols in the gym tomorrow instead of walking down to the church.  Students should still wear their REGULAR (non-gym) uniform tomorrow.

No Parking: St. Mary’s Church Lot

St. Mary’s has sent us a written request that SJS families no longer use their lot for parking.  They will also be putting out signs.  Please don’t hesitate to use the SJS staff lot between the Pre-K and Big School at afternoon pick-up or the St. James Church lot is always available with plenty of parking spots.

Tree of Blessings

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Tree of Blessings this year.  Yesterday the 8th graders hosted a beautiful ceremony in the gym, which was attended by Pre-K – Grade 8 students.  Ornaments were sent home yesterday or will be coming home today with your student.

12:05pm Dismissal Tomorrow & Christmas Break

As a reminder, dismissal will occur at 12:05pm tomorrow, Friday, December 21st.

For students going to Aftercare at 12:05pm tomorrow, PIZZA WILL BE SERVED.  If your student does not like pizza, they should bring a lunch from home.

The school will be on Christmas break through Tuesday, January 1st.  School resumes on Wednesday, January 2nd.

Radio Testimonials – Help us Spread the Word

Saint James School is looking for a couple of parents and students who would be willing to travel to Prospect, Connecticut in January to record commercials/testimonials on behalf of Saint James School for the Archdiocese of Hartford’s radio station WJMJ (88.9 FM – Hartford).  The spots will air (at no cost to us) throughout the latter half of January, during Catholic School’s Week.

Volunteers are encouraged to share a specific and compelling story that expresses why SJS is special to them.  It can be prepared ahead of time and simply read on-air when you get to the studio.   Click below to listen to our testimonials from last year.

Commercial 1:  Alejandra & Kaitlyn

Commercial 2: Rishi & William

If you are willing to participate or have your child participate in this exciting experience, please e-mail Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net by the end of the week for additional details. Parents will need to provide transportation for their child(ren) to the studio and arrange for missed school work.

As always, we appreciate any help you can provide in spreading the good news about Saint James School!

SJS Guest Speakers At Area Churches

We are looking for student and/or parent volunteers to represent SJS at their “home” church this January.  Catholic churches that do not have their own parish school (such as those in Bolton, South Windsor, Glastonbury, Coventry, etc.,) have traditionally allowed for a parishioner to speak at the conclusion of Mass about our school and promote our upcoming Open House events during Catholic School’s Week.

If your student/family may be willing to help, please reach out to Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool or (860) 643.5088 (option 8 on the automated menu) to learn more.

As always, we sincerely thank you for your support.
