Due to Monday’s snow day, Student Council will meet tomorrow (Thursday) after school until 2:45pm.  If your child can’t make this meeting due to the date change, please know that is okay.

Trimester II Ends Tomorrow

As a reminder, the second trimester ends tomorrow, Thursday, March 7th.  Report cards will be sent home with students next Friday, March 15th.

Box Tops Winner

Congratulations to  our latest winner of the Box Tops Dress Down Contest: Fifth grade with 498 Box Tops!  The students counted 1,140 total Box Tops yesterday.

We will be counting for the last time this school year on April 30th.

Ash Wednesday Mass Tomorrow

Tomorrow (March 6th) students in grades K – 8 will attend Mass at Saint James Church at 9:15am for Ash Wednesday. All SJS Parents/Guardians/Grandparents are welcome attend the Mass (please sit in the back few rows of pews).

Please note, you do not need to be a member of Saint James Church or even a member of the Catholic faith to attend any Saint James School Masses. We would love to see you there!

For those that cannot make the school Mass, tomorrow’s Mass Schedule is below:

Ash Wednesday, March 6, 2019 schedule:

St. James Church: 8am, 12:05pm, 7 pm

Assumption Church: 10am

Scripture reading with distribution of ashes:

Assumption Church: 5pm

Hat’s Off To Reading Contest

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Mrs. Carpenter is kicking off another fun reading contest for the Kindergarten through 6th grade classes.  Reading logs will be passed out in library this week & details on the contest will be discussed.  The grade with the most books read during the contest will win a dress down day & no homework night!  Extra reading logs are available in the library, from the classroom teachers, or can be printed HERE.  If you have any questions on the contest, please e-mail Mrs. Carpenter at lcarpenter@saintjamesschool.net.  The contest runs through April 3rd. Good luck everyone!

HSA Meetings This Week

There will be an evening HSA meeting tonight (3/5), from 7:00-8:30pm in the school library and a morning meeting on Weds (3/6) from 8:00-9:15 in the lower church.  Please attend whichever meeting best fits your schedule.  We hope you can join us!

Varsity Gold Boys Advance to Championship Game

With their victory over St. Paul last Friday night, the boys Varsity Gold basketball team advanced to tonight’s Central CT Deanery Championship game at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30PM.  All SJS families are welcome to come out and cheer on our players!
