In order to volunteer at Saint James School in ANY capacity, volunteers are required to have completed:
- A background check, and
2. Attended a VIRTUS Training Session
(please note, you only need to do this once – not every year).

To participate in a VIRTUS session, you must Pre-Register on the VIRTUS Site. To access the schedule of upcoming sessions and register to attend one, click HERE and select Hartford, CT (Archdiocese). There is an upcoming session at St. Bridget School here in Manchester on Monday and at St. Dunstan Church in Glastonbury on February 5th.
The background check form can be downloaded HERE or picked up at the SJS Main Office. Completed forms should be submitted to the SJS main office for processing.
Reminder: First Penance/First Communion Meetings Next Week

Varsity Gold Wins 6th Straight Game
/in St. James Notices /by Saint James SchoolSJS Boys Varsity Gold cruised to 6th straight win over St Mary’s of Simsbury Tuesday night, 49 to 32, improving overall record to 6 and 1 on the season. Assoc. Head Coach Mark McMullin spoke to the team’s unified effort, and the concentration down the stretch as Boys out scored St Mary’s 24 to 12 in the 4th Qtr, while making 17 of 24 free throws during the game. Evan A and Ale O lead the team in scoring on Tuesday night. The team has a busy month ahead with 7 more games in January. Next up the team will play St. Tims of West Hartford on Saturday at the Northwest Catholic gym (2:30 pm start).
Box Tops Winners
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolCongratulations to our 6th classes for winning of our November/December Box Tops Dress Down with a total of 400 Box Tops! The students counted a total of 1,290 Box Tops yesterday, which equates to $129 for our school! Thank you for everyone who sent in Box Tops. Please keep collecting paper box tops and using the App for Digital Box Tops to keep earning money for our school.
We will be counting box tops again in March.
Ski/Snowboard Club Starts Tomorrow
/in St. James Notices /by Saint James SchoolAs a reminder, the Saint James Ski/Snowboard Club starts this Friday (1/10). Students participating (who don’t have a parent coming) may bring their ski equipment to school in the morning and put it inside the gym entrance.
Ski Club volunteers will begin loading the equipment from the gym stairwell onto the bus tomorrow around 1:45pm.
All participating families should have received an email from Mrs. Joyner, our parent volunteer coordinator, last night with additional information regarding Friday’s outing.
