Summer Assignments

This year students in grades 1 – 7 will be receiving a summer packet/assignment to complete over break.  A printed copy will be sent home with each student sometime between today and Wednesday (depending on the teacher).  Please be sure to check in with your child/ren to review these packets/assignments so you can help them plan accordingly.

8th Grade Graduation Pics

Class of 2022 graduation pictures are now available for pickup in the SJS main office.  For families with a sibling still at SJS, pictures are coming home with that sibling today.  All other families are welcome to stop by and pick theirs up at their convenience.

Reminder: Important Notice About Next Year

Plans for Saint James School’s Centennial Celebration are kicking into high gear and we can’t wait to celebrate this exciting milestone with you during the upcoming school year.

Please carefully read the details below.  Important planning will be ongoing throughout the summer months and many helping hands will be needed in the days ahead:

*** At our Fall Festival on September 17th, each grade will be hosting an activity on our school campus.  Parent ambassadors from each grade are currently being recruited and those ambassadors may be asking for your help during the summer as well as on the date of the actual event.  Please be on the lookout for their communication.

*** Numerous volunteers will be needed the weekend of September 17th and 18th – both at the Fall Festival on the 17th and at the school’s Alumni Open House on the 18th. (Archbishop Blair will be joining us for a special Mass at Saint James Church before the Open House event that Sunday).  A sign-up sheet will be sent out over the summer.  Please save the date.

***We are on the hunt for pictures that parents, grandparents, family friends, etc. have kept from when they attended SJS (we have a lot of Alumni who now have children and/or grandchildren at the school).  Please scan and send pictures to Mrs. Fiereck (jfiereck@gmail.com).  If you need help scanning pictures Mrs. Fiereck or Mrs. Guenther can help you with that.

***We are planning some fun and unique “100 years of SJS” fundraisers next year – a special calendar, a cookbook, special Vineyard Vines ties, Christmas ornaments, and more!

***Saint James School will be participating in 100 Acts of Kindness throughout the 2022-2023 school year.  We hope you will get your family involved!

Thank you in advance for your support as we celebrate 100 years of Saint James School!

Parish Affiliation Form Reminder

For families that will have a student in our K-8 program next year, this is a reminder that the cut off for turning in your Parish Affiliation forms is June 30, 2022.  Forms will not be accepted after that date.

If you do not know if you have submitted your form or if it has been processed, please log into your FACTS account;  If we have received your signed form the total tuition owed for the upcoming year will reflect the Parish Rate. If you have any questions, please contact our Tuition Manager, Mrs. Mayo, at dmayo@saintjamesschool.net.

2022-2023 Parish Affiliation Form (Returning Families)

Soccer Shirts

Please remember that all JV soccer uniforms are now due back to the SJS main office, hand-washed and in a bag labeled with the student’s name.  There is a charge for uniforms that are not returned.  Varsity soccer shirts should be returned following the conclusion of the season.  Thank you!

Field Day Postponed

Due to the forecasted rain for Thursday, we have made the decision to postpone field day until the rain date of June 14th.  Students should wear their regular (Thursday) uniforms to school tomorrow.

Water Bottles

Please send your student with a refillable water bottle every day.  We have way too many students who are coming down to the nurse each day for water because they don’t have a water bottle in their backpack.  Thank you!

Attention All Pre-K & Grade 6 Families

The State of CT requires all students entering Pre-K3, Pre-K4, Kindergarten, and 7th Grade to have an updated Health Assessment form, detailing a recent health physical and signed by the child’s pediatrician, on file with the school nurse prior to the start of school in the Fall.  If your child has their annual physical in the months ahead, please be sure to request a copy of this form or print a copy below and bring it with you to the appointment.

Entering Kindergarten or Grade 7 in Fall 2022: State of CT Health Assessment Form – Kindergarten (aka Blue Physical Form)

Entering Pre-K3 or Pre-K4 in Fall 2022:  State of CT Early Childhood Health Assessment Form Pre-Kindergarten (aka Yellow Physical Form)

Families are welcome to reach out to the school nurse, Mrs. Vignati, with any questions.
