Update: Returning Family Registration

The returning family registration email, with paperwork and information on enrolling students for the 2023-2024 school year, is expected to be sent out sometime tomorrow.  We apologize for the delay.

FREE Hot Lunch Program Ending

As a reminder, the FREE Hot Lunch program will end on February 28th.

Please take a moment over the next week or so to check on your child’s lunch account balance and add funds if you plan to have them continue ordering lunch from the school.

A couple of important notes:

*If you had provided a credit card to EZSchoolPay to change a certain amount each month, the town has switched systems and those cards on file have been lost.  You will need to re-sign up.

*You can add money to your child’s account online (a convenience fee will apply) at https://www.ezschoolpay.com or by sending in cash or a check to the school (no fee).  The check must be made out to “Manchester Hot Lunch Program” and all funds should be in an envelope clearly labeled with the child’s name.  If you have not yet signed up for an EZSchoolPay Account and no longer have the email from SJS with your child’s hot lunch account number, you may email aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.

*If you would like to apply for the free or reduced priced meal program for the remainder of the school year, this can also be done on the ezschoolpay website.  A hard copy of the free/reduced meal form can be found HERE.

*SJS students are now listed under “Manchester Private Schools” in the EZSchoolPay portal.

Please direct questions to Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.

Monday: 100th Anniversary Shirt Day!

In honor of the 100th day of school – which is Monday, February 6th – Saint James School students (and staff) are invited to wear their Saint James School 100th Anniversary Shirts to school with sweatpants, jeans, or their regular uniform bottoms.

Please note, for students opting NOT to wear their 100th anniversary shirt on Monday, they must come to school in regular Monday uniform attire.

Blue & Gold/Spirit Wear Dress Down Tomorrow

As a reminder, tomorrow is a Blue & Gold/SJS Spiritwear Dress Down Day and we will have a fun pep rally in the afternoon!

Please note all standard dress down guidelines from the handbook apply including:

  • Leggings are not permitted (unless the student is wearing a long shirt that comes down to mid-thigh)
  • No shorts, halter tops, half shirts, tank tops, low-cut, or see-through tops
  • High heels, platform shoes, flip-flops, open-toe sandals, and shoes with no backs are not allowed.
  • Clothing must not be torn, ragged, have holes, or have inappropriate slogans
  • No colored hair or nail polish

Parents will be called to bring a change of clothes if students are in dress down attire and school policies are not met.  Please ensure your child’s outfit conforms to the dress down guidelines outlined in the parent/student handbook: 2022-2023 Parent Student Handbook

Last Call: Collection for Little Sisters of the Poor

As part of Catholic School’s Week this week, we will be collecting items for Little Sisters of the Poor (through Friday 2/3).  We are asking families to donate the following to this wonderful cause:

Pre-K & Kindergarten: Dove Hand Soap

Grades 1 & 2: Boxes of Tissues

Grades 3 & 4: Body Wash

Grades 5 & 6: Toilet Paper

Grade 7 – Hand Lotion

Grade 8 – Body Lotion

The Little Sisters of the Poor are a congregation of Roman Catholic religious women who care for the elderly poor (regardless of faith) with dignity and compassion until God calls them home.  In Connecticut, their main residential facility is in Enfield, but their mission covers the entire state.  You can read more about their ministry HERE.
