4th Grade STEM Club

STEM Club will be held after school on Thursday, October 26 for students in Grade 4.  If your child would like to attend, please complete the permission form.

This Saturday! Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival

We have been keeping a close eye on the weather for Saturday afternoon and have decided our Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival Event WILL go on as planned for this Saturday.  Hopefully the rain will stay away as they are now forecasting.

Here are a few notes for Saturday’s event:

* For families decorating a trunk, THANK YOU!!  Please be sure to arrive between 12:30pm and 12:45pm (an event volunteer will show you where to park).  Please bring candy for approximately 180 children.

* All other attendees, please check in at the table in front of the school NO EARLIER thank 1:00pm.  Everyone will get a stamp on their hand when they enter to be able to participate in the activities.

* If your family would still like to attend but missed the initial sign-up, we have reopened the RSVP form (<— click to open) – please RSVP today and send your $20 payment with your student tomorrow.

* Please remember to bring cash for other items not included in admission fee that you may wish to enjoy:  the pick-a-pumpkin patch, Kona Ice truck, Highland Park Market food truck.

Due Tomorrow: SJS Basketball Sign-Ups

The Saint James School 2023-2024 Basketball season will begin in early November.  Basketball is open to students in 4th – 8th grade.  Students interested in playing must submit the following to the main office by tomorrow, Friday, October 13th.  Please note, this is a hard deadline.  We cannot guarantee spots on the team for late submissions.

Also, in order to participate, students must have their 2023-2024 Athletics Health Permission Form (signed by their doctor) on file with the school.  This can be submitted after 10/13, but students will NOT be able to participate in any practices, etc. until this form is on file with us. (Students running Cross Country for SJS do NOT need to submit a new form).

Reminder: Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences

As a reminder, conferences will be held next week on Wednesday and Thursday (10/18, 10/19).  If you have not yet signed up, please do so by the end of the day Friday using THIS LINK (click to view).

Aftercare will be in session on these two days, please remember your student will need lunch from home if going to aftercare on either/both days.

Book Fair Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who purchased books at our recent SJS Book Fair – together we raised a whopping $5,571 to buy new books for the classroom libraries and main school library!  Also, an extra BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Poth for volunteering her time to chair/run this event for our school and to all the parent volunteers who came in to assist throughout the week.

HSA Meeting Reminder

The Home & School Association Meeting originally scheduled for last week has been rescheduled to tomorrow – WEDNESDAY, October 11th – at 6:00pm in the SJS Cafeteria.

ECHS Open House

Wednesday Bus Update

As a reminder, buses are now combined on WEDNESDAY afternoons (only) due to the early dismissal schedule for MPS impacting bus availability.

Please note, Bus 27 and Bus 31 WILL continue to be combined on Wednesdays.  Bus 27 stop times did not change; parents of riders on bus 31 were emailed an updated stop time from SJS this morning.

Bus 29 and 107 are still combined as one bus (#29).  Stop times are the same as were emailed to parents last week

Bus 134 and 32 are still combined as one bus (#134); Stop times are the same as as were emailed to parents last week.

If your child should go to walkers instead of taking the bus home on Wednesdays, please email your child’s teacher this evening or notify the office in the morning.
