Important: Wall That Heals

All students (K-8) and staff will be viewing the Wall that Heals on Wednesday, October 7th.  We will stand on the front lawn of the church to see the motorcade of motorcycles, the chief of police, and the wall.  If you do not want your child to attend, please send a note into school on Wednesday.

Please make sure your child has a coat or a sweater.

October Saber Stories

Please take a few moments to read the October Saint James School Saber Stories Newsletter.

Walkers Dismissal Note

Please note, beginning with today’s dismissal, we are reversing the order of where students/parents line up in the gym, going back to how it was the first few days of school. The 8th grade students/parents will line up closest to the gym entrance, with Kindergarten over by the stage.  We have noticed that the older students are dismissing faster making it easier for them to be closest to the exit door.  We thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Jeannine Fundraiser

A quick reminder that the Jeannine Fundraiser orders were due to the school office today.  If you forgot to turn yours in, please be sure to send it in Monday morning.  We thank you again for your support!

End of Day Pick-up Reminder

Mrs. Kanute would like to remind parents who are picking up students at the end of the school day to please enter and exit through the main gym doors.  For safety reasons, please do not exit through the rear doors of the gym.  Thank you again for all your patience and support with regards to this new pick-up procedure.

South Windsor Carpool

We have a family in South Windsor who is interested in setting up a carpool (Dart Hill Road and Avery Street Area).  Please call and speak to Mrs. DelSignore in the main office if you are interested.

Family Information Sheet – Please Correct & Return

A Family Information Sheet, showing the contact information the school has listed for your family, will be coming home with your child today or tomorrow.  Please review, make any changes, and send back to the school the following day.

New Dismissal Procedures For Picking Up Students

As a measure of additional safety for our students, effective today – Thursday, August 27th – the school is implementing a new procedure for picking up students at the end of the day (“walkers”):

  • All parents who pick up students at dismissal will park in the church parking lot. The parents/ guardians will walk to the school and enter the front doors of the gym.  Parents/ guardians will walk to the RIGHT side of the gym and wait for the dismissal signal bell.

  • The students will be walked down to the gym with a grade teacher and will enter through the breezeway entrance.  They will line up with the teacher on the LEFT side of the gym.

  • PARENTS MUST TELL THE TEACHER WHO THEY ARE PICKING UP AND THE STUDENT WILL BE RELEASED TO THE PARENT.

  • All Pre-Kindergarten students should be picked up at the Pre-Kindergarten.  Parents with a child also in the K-8 school should pick up their Pre-Kindergarten student first, then proceed to the gym.

  • Students will be brought down to the gym for dismissal at 2:10pm.  The doors to the gym will open at 2:00pm.

  • NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO PARK ON EITHER SIDE OF PARK STREET FROM THE CORNER OF CHURCH STREET TO THE PRE-K FENCE.  PLEASE DO NOT PULL INTO EITHER STAFF PARKING LOT.

  • Manchester residents are encouraged to use the bus system to help with the congestion at the end of the day.

Additional staff will be at dismissal to help make this new procedure run in a safe and orderly manner.  We ask for your cooperation and patience as we transition to this new pick-up method.

Sincerely,

The administration and staff of Saint James School
