Thank You: Morning Drop-Off Location Extended and Other Important Information

Mrs. Kanute would like to extend a huge Thank You to all the families who helped make morning drop-off run more smoothly this morning.  If you didn’t read through this yesterday, please take a moment to do so now:

To try to reduce morning traffic congestion, beginning Wednesday morning we are extending the length of our “Drop & Go” location for parents dropping students off after 7:30am. In addition to dropping off in front of the gym/breezeway, parents may pull up in front of the school (by the hedges) and curbside in front of the staff parking lot between the Pre-K and main building.  Please Do Not Block the crosswalk area.

It is because your child(ren)’s safety is our top priority that we ask you to please be respectful about obeying the posted traffic signs and following the school’s drop-off rules:

  • Do NOT stop your car in the middle of the street or the Otis Street intersection to drop-off your child(ren).  This is extremely dangerous for you, your child(ren), the crossing guard, and other students.

  • Do NOT park in the marked “No Parking” zone in front of the white house across from the school.  The no parking sign is there to help aid with vision for the crosswalk.

  • If you are dropping off curbside in front of the gym/breezeway/school, your child(ren) should have their backpack ready to go and exit on the SIDEWALK side of the car only.  Do not let your child(ren) exit your car into the street.

  • If you wish to walk your child(ren) to the breezeway in the morning, you may park in front of the Pre-Kindergarten building on Park Street, on St. James Street, on Otis Street (on the designated side), or in the St. James Church parking lot.  Between these multiple locations, there is plenty of parking to accommodate all parents.

  • Whether you are doing curbside drop-off or parking your car to walk your child up to the school, please make a point to plan enough time into your morning routine to help your child(ren) arrive SAFELY and on time.

We thank you in advance for doing your part to help us keep our children safe.

Saint James School Survey(s)

Today you should receive a notice home in your child’s folder regarding a survey that the school is administering to help us gather data for our upcoming reaccreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.  A major part of the accreditation process is a self-evaluation, which takes into account feedback from all members of our school community to help us identify our strengths and our areas for improvement.

Once you have read the survey notice, please take a few moments to complete the Parent Survey if you are currently the parent of an SJS student (one per household, please).  This survey can be easily accessed by clicking HERE or entering www.surveymonkey.com/s/sjsparent into your browser.

Second, please help any child in your household that is a current SJS student complete the Student Survey.  The student survey can be easily accessed by clicking HERE or entering www.surveymonkey.com/s/sjsstudent into your browser.

If you have a child in your household that graduated from SJS in the years 2010 through 2013, please have them take the Alumni Survey.  You can easily access the Alumni Survey by clicking HERE or entering www.surveymonkey.com/s/sjsalumni into your browser.

We ask that you complete the appropriate survey(s) by next Tuesday, April 1, 2014.  We are grateful for your time and honest feedback as we undertake this important initiative.   If you have any questions on the survey process, please e-mail the school at info@saintjamesschool.net.

Open House Invitation Post Cards

Towards the end of last week parents should have received a note home from Mrs. Kanute asking for the names of friends, acquaintances, and/or other family members who may be interested in learning about Saint James School’s Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade programs.  If you did not received the form you can download a copy here.

We also have Open House Post Cards available in the main office that you can pick up to hand deliver.

We are currently conducting tours and accepting applications for new families for the 2014-2015 school year.  Acceptance letters for new families will begin going out in a couple of weeks and open spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis after that point.  Please encourage interested families to call the office to schedule a visit or to attend our April 3rd open house.

As always, we greatly appreciate all that you do to support our school!
