Tardy Arrivals & Parking

Mrs. Kanute would like to remind parents that students will begin receiving detentions for unexcused tardy arrivals beginning this coming Monday.  Please refer to the January Saber Stories article from Mrs. Kanute regarding this issue.  If your child is late to school (i.e. second bell has run, the breezeway door has closed), you must come in with them to the main office to sign them in, regardless of their grade.

Also, please remember to adhere to the No Parking Signs in front of the school and across the street from the school.  Parents are still parking in marked no-parking zones in the morning and afternoon, creating a safety issue that impacts other SJS parents and children.

Church Renovation Project

For parents that are members of Saint James Parish: we want to inform you that the project to reconstruct part of the church’s 142-year-old foundation, and build a main-level handicapped-accessible restroom, is underway! Masses and other church activities will continue at their regularly scheduled times throughout the construction.  Here are a few pictures from the initial two days – click each image to enlarge.  (If you are on Facebook we have also posted them on our church Facebook page):

Radio Ads For SJS

Saint James School is looking for a couple of parents and/or students who would be willing to travel to Prospect, Connecticut this coming Tuesday (around lunchtime) to record commercials/testimonials on behalf of Saint James School for the Archdiocese of Hartford’s radio station WJMJ (88.9 FM – Hartford).  The spots will air throughout the latter half of January.

Volunteers are encouraged to share a specific and compelling story that expresses why SJS is special to them.  It can be prepared ahead of time and simply read on-air when you get to the studio.   Click HERE to listen to our testimonials from last year.

If you are willing to participate or have your child participate in this exciting experience, please e-mail Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net by tomorrow afternoon. Parents will need to provide transportation for their child(ren) to the studio and arrange for missed school work.

January Saber Stories

Please find attached the January 2017 Saber Stories Newsletter from Mrs. Kanute.  Please pay particular attention to the two articles on no parking zones and tardy arrivals.
