Catholic Schools Month

The Month of January is known as Catholic Schools Month.  This is the time each year we recognize and honor all the wonderful qualities of Catholic Education.  At the end of the month we will celebrate with some special events  including our annual Saint James School Blue & Gold Pep Rally and an Open House for prospective families (more details to come soon!).

This is a great opportunity for you to talk to your children about why you chose a Catholic school for them and how fortunate they are to be part our the Saint James School community.  Teachers will also be talking to students about this, and sharing their own reasons for choosing to teach in a Catholic school.

Parking

Please do not park in the space marked as “RESERVED” with two specific license plate numbers on it in the staff lot between the Main School and the Pre-Kindergarten facility.  This spot was purchased by a school family during our 2017 Gala and is to be used ONLY by the person that purchased it.  Thank you for your attention to this and for sharing this with any family members/friends that pick up your child/ren.

Christmas Store

The 2017 Christmas Store has come to a close.  We are pleased to announce that the new approach proved to be successful! A huge THANK YOU goes out to all the wonderful parents that volunteered for set up, shopping, and breakdown.  We truly could not do it without you and are forever grateful for your time. We also would like to thank all the staff for their help and support of the event.  We hope everyone enjoys your gifts! The students enjoyed their time shopping!

Outside Dismissal Today

Due to the Christmas Store being set up in the gym, afternoon pickup will take place in the lot between the main school and the Pre-K facility today.

LAST CALL FOR A DRAMA CLUB COORDINATOR

We have had several volunteers to help but we do not have anyone to take the lead and organize the Drama Club for this school year. Please email Mrs. Zorger at bzorger@saintjamesschool.net if you are interested. If we do not have a lead for the group, we will be unable to have a production this year at our school.

Thoughts for Advent Season

As we begin the season of Advent we thought the following short article, containing ways to celebrate Advent at home, might be of interest to you:  https://catechistsjourney.loyolapress.com/2017/11/six-ways-to-celebrate-advent-at-home/

There is also a good website called “The Best Advent Ever” from DynamicCatholic.com that you may wish to explore.

Wishing you and your family all the best this Advent season!

December 2017 Saber Stories

1st Grade Daises

An FYI for parents from Mrs. DesRocher, the 1st grade Daisies will meet tomorrow 2:15-3:30pm, followed by their investiture ceremony at 3:30-4:00pm in the room above Pre-k.

Radio Commercials – Help Us Spread The Word

Saint James School is looking for a couple of parents and students who would be willing to travel to Prospect, Connecticut in January to record commercials/testimonials on behalf of Saint James School for the Archdiocese of Hartford’s radio station WJMJ (88.9 FM – Hartford).  The spots will air (free of charge!) throughout the latter half of January, during Catholic School’s Week.

Volunteers are encouraged to share a specific and compelling story that expresses why SJS is special to them.  It can be prepared ahead of time and simply read on-air when you get to the studio.   Click HERE to listen to our testimonials from two years ago.

If you are willing to participate or have your child participate in this exciting experience, please e-mail Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net by the end of the week for additional details. Parents will need to provide transportation for their child(ren) to the studio and arrange for missed school work.

As always, we appreciate any help you can provide in spreading the good news about Saint James School!
