Box tops for the fourth dress down contest of the school year will be counted after school on Tuesday, March 5th. Please be sure to send in any box tops you have accumulated by 2:00pm on March 5th to help your child’s grade win! (please label name and grade on the container or baggie you send them in).
Just a quick clarification, our new STEM Club (for the elementary grades) will be held at periodic intervals – it is NOT an ongoing, weekly activity (just like Book & Art Club is held at periodic intervals).
Students who are not going to aftercare following STEM Club today can be picked up at 3:15pm OUTSIDE the gym doors. Thank you for your cooperation.
If you are a SJS parent with a child in Pre-K3 through 7th Grade, you should have received an e-mail a short time ago with paperwork/instructions on registering your child for the 2019-2020 school year. If you did not receive the e-mail, please check your SPAM and, if you still don’t see it, e-mail Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.
This year’s registration paperwork is in “fillable” form – so you should be able to type in your information. You must, however, print the paperwork and sign the tuition contract. The original, signed copy must be sent back to the SJS office (you can send it through your child or drop it off yourself).
The Code Red & Photo Permissions should be done via the link.
Copies of all the forms sent out via e-mail today will be available in the main office for any family that prefers to have a hard copy. Please call Mrs. Sager in the main office if you would like one sent home with your child.
If you are unable to see the documents as “fillable” on your phone or tablet, simply download the Adobe Acrobat App first, then select the option to open the form in Adobe Acrobat.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Dear Catholic School Friends & Families,
Within days of the start of the 2019 legislative session of the Connecticut General Assembly, two State House Bills were proposed to eliminate bus transportation for nonpublic schools, which include our great Catholic schools (HB 5241 and HB 6611).
**Please know that the statute requiring towns and municipalities to provide these services has been ruled constitutional by the Connecticut Supreme Court. The statute ensures the safe transportation of students to and from school, and it supports school children and their parents.
**This is a matter of public safety akin to the provision of first responder services to any private company or residence.
**We realize local and state budgets are stretched, but we must not start balancing budgets by cutting back on student safety.
Catholic school families already save towns and the state millions of dollars by assuming the costs of their children’s education.
Please urge your legislators to oppose these bills by clicking the link below. This proposal has the support of many high ranking legislators, so it is critical that your voice is heard now and in the weeks ahead.
In faith,
Anne LaMonica, CCPAC Associate Director for Education

This week Saint James School has been celebrating Catholic Schools Week in conjunction with other Catholic schools across the country. Saint James School is very fortunate and has much to celebrate: Our strong enrollment, extremely careful oversight of expenditures, strong community, awesome staff, and continued commitment to an exceptional academic, moral, and spiritual foundation for our students.
In keeping with tradition, tomorrow afternoon Mrs. Zorger will be sending out a (separate) email to all Pre-Kindergarten – 7th grade families with registration paperwork for the 2019-2020 school year.

Friday, February 1st, is our annual Blue & Gold/Spiritwear dress down day and SJS Pep Rally. Students may come to school on Friday dressed down in blue & gold (the school colors) or wear any of their Saint James School spiritwear. Standard dress down guidelines apply. If your child has an SJS Class of 20xx t-shirt that we have given out to all our new Kindergarten students in the past few years, please consider having them wear that.
All SJS Basketball Players should wear their basketball top (with a shirt under it) to school tomorrow.
Varsity Blue had a thriller last night against St Tims. Our boys were down 23 – 15 at the end of the first half, but the team stormed back to win it, 42 – 41. Way to go SABERS!!
