Buddy Families Needed

Please help us welcome new families and friends to Saint James School by signing up to be a 2019 Buddy Family (click here to sign up to be a Buddy Family).

A Buddy Family is any current Saint James family that is willing to be a resource for questions that a new, incoming (K-8) family may have during the summer and at the start of the school year.

We typically assign each of our buddy families two new families.  If you have never been a buddy family before, please know it does not require a lot of time.

Buddy families will also receive an invitation to attend the back to school meet & sweet ice cream social (along with the new families and staff) on August 27th.

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.  Otherwise, please click on the link above to sign up and you will be contacted via e-mail in late June with more information. As always, we sincerely thank you for your support and for helping us welcome new families and friends to Saint James School!

Field Day Update

It does look like rain for tomorrow morning so we are working on a modified field day program that will be indoors.  Students should still come to school in the designated attire as noted below:

*SJS gym shorts, gym sneakers, and designated-colored T-shirt:

*Grade 1:  purple (or as close as possible)
*Grade 2:  blue
*Grade 3:  green
*Grade 4:  yellow
*Grade 5:  orange
*Grade 6:  red
*Grade 7:  tie-dye or white
*Teachers:  pink

Watermelon should still be brought in for a snack.  We are all set on water with what has already been brought in, but students should still bring a water bottle to school, labeled with their name.

Due to the limited activities, parent volunteers are not needed tomorrow.  A huge thank you to all those who had originally volunteered!

Dismissal Tomorrow

As a reminder, tomorrow (Tuesday, 6/11) and Wednesday (6/12) are 12:05pm dismissal days. Aftercare will be in session however, students will need to bring a lunch from home if they will be going to aftercare.

Dismissal for students being picked up at 12:05pm tomorrow (Tuesday) will be outside in the lot between the main school and the pre-kindergarten building as the gym will be set up for field day.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are in and will be distributed to students shortly.  Kindergarten families who ordered a yearbook for their child should have received it during graduation today.  Eighth grade families may come pick up a blue yearbook for their child in the main office or call the office to have it sent home with a sibling.  Pre-K students will receive a notice from Mrs. St. Jean.

Aftercare Statements Ready

The June aftercare statements are now available for pick-up from Ms. Jean.  If your child has already graduated you can stop in to pick it up or it will be mailed to your home.

Children’s Mass Helpers for Next Year

Thank you to all the families who had their child/ren help with our monthly SJS Children’s Masses this year and/or perform in the choir.  It really is a special blessing for our school and Parish to be so closely connected and we receive so many compliments from the parishioners on how much they enjoy having our students participate in these special Masses.

In planning ahead for the 2019-2020 school year, we are looking for student volunteers to help out at our monthly SJS Children’s Mass (9:00am Mass, second Sunday of the month).  If your child would be interested in serving in any capacity, please reach out via email to parent volunteer coordinator Cindy Herr at cndherr@cox.net for information.
