Book Fair Next Week

Our books arrived this morning!! The annual SJS Book Fair will be held at Saint James School next week in the school gymnasium!  The book fair is a great way to encourage reading and build home libraries.  It is also a great way to support our school as 50% of all purchases go directly to the school.

All students will have an opportunity to visit the book fair with their class.  Younger students (preK-3rd) will first make a “Wish List” and then they will then have a secondary opportunity to visit the fair to purchase the items on their wish list.  Students in Grades 4-8 will visit the fair one time to make purchases.  **Please remember to send along a shopping bag for your child’s purchases.

eWallet

Students can make purchases at the fair via cash, check or eWallet.  The eWallet option is a convenient option that avoids children having to carry money to school.  We encourage you to sign up for eWallet by following this link.

PLEASE NOTE:  Any unused funds from last year’s eWallets must be transferred to a NEW ewallet.  You can do this by logging into your Scholastic account, adding a new eWallet and loading your unused funds onto the new eWallet.

Parent Shopping Hours

The book fair will be open for Parent Shopping Hours on Tuesday (10/1) and Wednesday (10/2) between 7:15-7:45am and 1:30-2:45pm. Parents who visit the fair will be able to enter a raffle so we encourage you to stop by!  This will also give you the opportunity to purchase books for your child’s classroom teacher.

Our book fair is available online from 9/30 to 10/13 by clicking here.  All books ordered online will be shipped directly to your home and any book-only orders of $25 or more will ship for free.  Please do keep in mind that online orders earn 25% profit for the school, not the same 50% as purchases made in-person at our fair.

Volunteers for Thursday

Thank you to the many parents who have signed up to help at the book fair!  We need a couple of parents on Thursday morning (10/3) from 9-11 to help pack up the fair.  It goes very quickly and many hands make light work.  If you are able to help out, please sign up here.

SJS Spiritwear Orders

For families that ordered Cross Country Gear or general school spirit-wear back in late August/early September – items are in and will be sent home with students over the next few days.  If the items are a surprise and you would like to arrange for pick-up, please reach out to Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.  For families that requested postal delivery to their home, those items have already shipped to you.

Campus Ministry Reminders

A few reminders from Ms. Holmes:

1)     If your child would like to be an altar server and couldn’t attend the training last weekend please use this form. Please note: any student that wants to be an altar server must at least be in the 3rd grade and have received their sacrament of First Holy Communion.

2)     If your child is interested in singing in the choir for masses, please use this sign-up form. This form is primarily “interest only.” Details such as dates and times are still to be determined.

3)     If you have a suggestion for campus ministry please use this virtual suggestion box. I’d love to hear from you!

4)     Please contact Stephanie at campusminister@saintteresacatholic.org for any questions you have now or in the future.

Congratulations SJS Cross Country!

Cherrydale Fundraiser Ends Tomorrow

Tomorrow – Friday, September 2oth – is the last day for Cherrydale Fundraiser orders to be placed, as well as our final “Wild Thingz” ticket turn-in day.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated – your support makes a difference!

Reminder: Volunteers Needed

The HSA will be hosting the annual Saint James School Book Fair from Monday, September 30 through Thursday, October 3.  Proceeds from the book fair (up to 50% of your purchase!) go towards funding new books and equipment for the classrooms and the school library.

Volunteers are needed to help set-up/clean-up the book fair and to work at the fair by helping students make selections and serving as cashiers.  Please note that in order to volunteer you must have completed VIRTUS training and a Background Check.

If you are able to help, please click HERE to access the Volunteer Sign Up Genius.  Any questions can be directed to Alicia Poth (aliciapoth@gmail.com).

Any time you can give would be appreciated to help us make this year’s book fair another huge success.  Thank you!

IMPORTANT: Saint James School Survey

September 18, 2024

Dear Saint James School Families,

The faculty and administration at Saint James School have begun preparing for the renewal of our NEASC accreditation.  As a member of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), Saint James School undergoes a full evaluation every ten years.  A major part of the accreditation process is a self-evaluation, which requires all members of our school community to reflect upon numerous aspects of our school.  Currently enrolled families are an integral part of this evaluation process.

Below you will find a link to our parent/guardian survey. Your responses are confidential, and will go directly to NEASC.  NEASC will be providing us with updates about participation and overall survey results.  Please limit survey responses to one per family.

While the 10-year accreditation review is a huge undertaking for any academic institution, it does give us an opportunity to step back and evaluate all aspects of our school. Everyone receiving this letter has a vested interest in Saint James School so we are hoping for 100% participation in the survey process. We truly appreciate the time and effort you will put into giving us your honest feedback.

Parents/Guardians, please complete this survey by Friday, September 27th.  Again, thank you for your time and participation.  https://surveys.neasc.org/s3/F25-NEASC-CIS-Family-Survey?id=24

Sincerely,

The Saint James School Faculty and Administration
