Important Fall Parent/Teacher Conference Information

Please note the following important information regarding this week’s parent/teacher conferences:

* Please make sure you are using your name or your child’s name for your Zoom ID so the teacher knows who is in the waiting room.

* Please be on time for your conference.  Teachers will be holding firm to the 15 minute time allotment.

* The teacher will be in a secure, private area for the conference.  Please ensure that you are doing the same on your end.

Wireless Mouse Issue

We are finding that many students are attempting to use a wireless mouse with their Chromebook while at school.  Unfortunately, with so many students using this wireless accessory – often of the same brand – while in close proximity, these devices are not working correctly.  If your student wishes to use a mouse with their Chromebook while at school, please note that you will need to find a mouse with a cord that plugs directly into the student’s computer.

Instrumental Music

Please note that intermediate and advanced band students WILL have practice tomorrow even though it is a shortened day.  These students should bring their CHRISTMAS music from last year to school tomorrow.

There will be two virtual Internet Safety Presentations taking place very soon; a parent/teacher training and a student training. Please see the flyer below that came to us through the State of CT. The flyer contains all the information on dates, times, and includes the link for registration.

Chromebook Cases

School-issued Chromebook Cases are being distributed to students in 3rd – 8th grade today.  For remote learners, the cases will be included with materials being picked up by parents this afternoon.  Please make sure your student uses this new case in place of what they were previously using (this is required for insurance purposes) and note that the case is designed remain on the Chromebook at all times to help protect the device.   The carrying strap can be found in the front zipper pocket.

Sweater Weather Reminder

With the weather getting chillier, we wanted to remind parents that students may wish to have the SJS uniform V-Neck Sweater or SJS uniform Cardigan on hand to wear at school (these are the only acceptable options to be worn in the classroom on non-gym days).  Teachers are leaving windows cracked to aid in the circulation of fresh air within the classroom.

Likewise, on Gym days if your student is not warm enough in just their gym t-shirt, students may wear a plain navy sweatshirt (with or without the SJS logo) or an SJS Spiritwear sweatshirt.

If you would like to visit the Uniform Closet, you may do so before school hours or after school hours.

Last Call: Fall 2020 K- 8 Survey

Thank you to all our SJS families for your support and efforts to help us make this a great school year for our students!

As we head into the second half of the Fall trimester, we would like to take this opportunity to gather some general feedback from our K-8 parents/guardians regarding this school year.  Please take a few moments to answer the survey below for each child in your family (we request that only ONE parent/guardian per family complete the survey).

Please note, after the first question (Grade) there are two separate sections based on if your student is a REMOTE LEARNER or an IN-PERSON LEARNER this Fall.
