Staffing Update

In case our current families didn’t get a chance to watch the last day of school wrap-up video from Mrs. Zorger (and to inform our new SJS families as well), we are excited to announce that Mrs. Jessica Fitzgerald has accepted the position of Pre-Kindergarten Director/4-Year-Old Program Teacher here at Saint James School for the upcoming school year.  Mrs. Fitzgerald has taught 1st grade at Saint James for the past 5 years and prior to that, served as the head teacher for another preschool program in town.

Mrs. Fitzgerald is a graduate of Assumption Elementary/Middle School, East Catholic High School, and the University of Connecticut – where she received her degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Early Childhood Development and Education.  Mrs. Fitzgerald also holds a Master’s of Education Degree from the University of Hartford and is certified through the State of Connecticut to teach Integrated Early Childhood in addition to the lower Elementary Grades.  Please join us on congratulating Mrs. Fitzgerald on her new role of working with our littlest Sabers.

Mrs. St. Jean, who has been graciously doing double duty this year as a 2nd Grade teacher along with her Pre-K Director duties, has enjoyed being back in her former 2nd grade classroom and will continue to teach 2nd grade alongside Mrs. LaMarche for the upcoming year.

We are currently interviewing to fill the 1st grade teacher position and will share updates as the summer progresses.

In addition, Mr. Lucey (our general music teacher) has decided to pursue an opportunity outside of SJS.  Mr. Corcoran (of Future Musicians, Inc.) is currently interviewing to fill that role.

Monday: 2021 Field Day (Gr. K-7)

Saint James School will host field day on Monday, June 14th (a 12:05pm dismissal day).  On that day, students should come to school in their SJS gym shorts, gym sneakers, and designated-colored T-shirt:

Kindergarten:  Red

First Grade:  Yellow

Second Grade:  Blue

Third Grade:  Green

Fourth Grade:  Purple

Fifth Grade:  Orange

Sixth Grade:  White

Seventh Grade:   Tie-Dye

This year, Saint James School 7th grade students will be helping to run the activities for the younger grades (and teachers will be at each station with their class) so we are not in need of parent volunteers this year.

End of School Year Medication Pick-Up Reminder

A reminder that parents/guardians will need to call the school to arrange pick up of student medications from the nurse prior to the last day of school.

Students cannot bring medicines home themselves. If your child has medication at school, please reach out to the Saint James School nurse, Mrs. Vignati, at (860) 643-5088 (x3) to schedule a pick-up time.

Also, please remember that medication authorization forms need to be renewed annually for each school year. It is the parent’s responsibility to bring medication and a completed and signed medication authorization form to the nurse when we return to school in September. The most recent medication authorization form can be found on the school website under the Forms/Docs section of our website.

Saint James School invites you to become a Buddy Family for one or two of the many new families joining our elementary/middle school program for the 2021-2022 school year.  Being a buddy family does not require much time and is a great way to support our school community.  Buddy Families are asked to do the following:

*Answer questions about the school, uniforms, events, and anything else pertaining to the school that you think is relevant to the new family(s).

*Look for your buddy family on the first day of school;  Have your child help the new student on the first few days of school (for buddy families with older students)

If you are interested in becoming a Buddy Family for the coming school year please FILL OUT THIS FORM.  Please feel free to contact Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net with any questions.
