IOWA Tests Monday

As a reminder, IOWA testing for students in Grades 3-7 will resume Monday morning. If your child has any appointments, etc. that conflict with the testing schedule, please use the information below to make adjustments so they can be in the classroom for all testing:

Remaining IOWA Testing Schedule

Monday, May 3rd – 8:15am – 9:15am

Wednesday, May 5th – 8:15am – 9:15am

Friday, May 7th – 8:15am – 9:15am

Tests begin immediately after announcements and prayers so on-time arrival is of upmost importance on these days.  If a student arrives after testing begins, the student will have to wait in the office until testing concludes so they do not disturb the other students.

For students that have opted for remote learning for the rest of the year, parents will receive an email with instructions regarding a special on-line version of the IOWA tests that has been purchased for your student to take.

There will be make-up opportunities for students that are out due to illness or quarantine.

Last Call: SJS Online Book Fair

Keep your kids reading this spring and support Saint James School with our ONLINE Scholastic Book Fair!

The book fair runs from April 18th through May 1st.

Saint James School earns a profit of 25% of every book purchased – funds will be used to purchase new books for our school library and Pre-K through Grade 8 classrooms.  We are grateful for your support!

Last Call: Teacher Wish Lists

During the Scholastic Book Fair you can help your child’s teacher build their classroom library by purchasing books from the Teacher Wish Lists!

You can view the Wish List for your child’s teacher HERE

Notice that each teacher has a tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet.  Simply choose what books you would like to purchase for a classroom, search for the books on our Scholastic Book Fair page (beginning Sunday) and add them to your cart for purchase.  The books will be shipped to your home and your child can bring them to school to give to their teacher.  Once you have purchased a book, please be sure to check it off on the Wish List spreadsheet so other families know that book has already been purchased.

As always, we thank you for supporting our teachers and our school!

Reminders for Parents

A couple of important reminders:

Morning Drop & Go:  The curb in front of the school is for Drop & Go only.  If your child is not ready to immediately exit the car on their own, please park in a designated parking spot.  Parents should NOT be exiting their car in the Drop & Go area.

Remote Learning:  Remote learning is ONLY for students that are required to be home due to a COVID-related concern.  Any other reason for keeping a student home (late night, appointment, car trouble, etc), will require the student to miss the day and make up the work when they return.

Journal Inquirer Article

Saint James School had a nice article featured in yesterday’s Journal Inquirer. The article can be read online HERE.

Important Reminder For Current Grade 6 Parents

Many of our 6th grade students will be bringing home a reminder letter from the school nurse today and a Blue Health Form (State of CT Health Assessment Record) .  The nurse has already spoken with the students bringing home this information.  Please discuss with your child and review the letter.   As a reminder, an updated State of CT Health Assessment Record (signed by the child’s doctor) must be on file with the school BEFORE they start their 7th Grade year (students cannot start in September without this on file).   If your child has recently had a physical, please have the provider complete the Health Form and return it to Mrs. Vignati as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Vignati at 860-643-5088 (ext. 3)
