Book Fair Last Call

Our book fair will close tomorrow morning at 9:00am.  Mrs. Zorger will make one last call over tomorrow morning’s announcements for any student that still wishes to make a purchase.  Thank you to everyone who supported this wonderful fundraiser for our school!

It’s Time to Sign Up for Cheer!

The Saint James School 2024-2025 Cheer Team is open to girls in 5th – 8th grade.  Girls interested in Cheer must submit the following to the main office by Wednesday, October 16th.  Please note, this is a hard deadline.  We will NOT be taking late submissions.

1. Cheer Permission Slip

2. $90 Activity Fee

3. Character Contract

Also, in order to participate, students must have our school’s 2024-2025 Athletics Health Permission Form (signed by their doctor) on file with the school.  This can be submitted after 10/16, but students will NOT be able to participate in any practices, etc. until this form is on file with us. (Students running Cross Country for SJS do NOT need to submit a new form).

Cheer practice will begin on Thursday, November 7th and run through early March.  Practices will be held Thursdays from 4:15pm – 5:30pm in the gym.

The girls will cheer at various basketball games throughout the season (sideline cheering and half-time routines), including on Saturday mornings.

SJS Book Fair: Parent Shopping Hours

Our book fair is underway for our students and we’d like to invite parents to come shopping, too!  The fair will be open for Parent Shopping Hours on Tuesday (10/1) and Wednesday (10/2) between 7:15-7:45am and 1:30-2:45pm. Parents who visit the fair will be able to enter a raffle so we encourage you to stop by!  This will also give you the opportunity to purchase books for your child’s classroom teacher.  Please enter the school through the gymnasium doors.

The Saint James School 2024-2025 Basketball season will begin in early November.  Basketball is open to students in 4th – 8th grade.  Students interested in playing must submit the following to the main office by Wednesday, October 16th.  Please note, this is a hard deadline.  We will NOT be taking late submissions.

Wednesday Bus Update

For families whose student(s) ride the bus home from school, please note that we did receive a 3rd bus from the town.  Updated bus assignments were emailed to parents this morning.  If your child uses the bus and you did not receive this information, please reach out to Mrs. Guenther.

Cross Country News

Our Cross Country team performed very well at the Wickham Invitational this past weekend running against 14 other schools in the area.  All our SJS runners improved their pace by at least 26 seconds from St. Timothy and some by over a minute!   We had five runners claim top 50 medals in their respective races: Camryn G. (19th); Morgan G. (26th); Kayden D. (27th); Luke S. (30th); and Cooper A. (43th).   Congrats to ALL the runners!

Our next meet in this Wednesday at Illing Middle School in Manchester.  The first race starts at 3:45pm.  All are welcome to join us to cheer on our runners!

Attention Bus Riders

Starting this coming Wednesday (10/2) the public schools in town will start their Wednesday early dismissal schedule, which limits the number of buses available for SJS.  Please note the following regarding Wednesday (only) buses:

Bus 31, 32, and 134 are combined;  Bus 27, 29, 104, and 107 are combined.

All parents with a student that rides the bus will receive an email with their student’s Wednesday stop info sometime today (Friday).

If you do not receive this, please reach out to Amy Guenther.

Sacrament Preparation This Sunday!

Our 2nd grade students enjoyed having Father Matt and Ms. Holmes visit them today to talk about Catholic sacraments, including 1st reconciliation and 1st communion – which many of our 2nd grade students will make this year!

As a reminder, students who will be completing these sacraments and their parents/guardians should attend the 10:00am Mass at St. Bartholomew Church this Sunday, September 29th, and the informational meeting immediately thereafter.  You can read the original email HERE.
