SJS Basketball Teams Enjoy a Winning Season

Congratulations to all the Saint James School Basketball teams for a truly stellar performance this season!

The Saint James 6th Grade/JV Girls Basketball team won the Manchester Deanery Championship defeating Assumption 30-11 last week. By going undefeated in the Deanery regular season and tournament the girls earned a #1 seed in the State Tournament. In their state quarterfinal game played on Sunday they defeated St. Mary-Simsbury 27-8. They now move on to the state semi-finals this coming Friday, facing St. Gabriel at 7:00pm in Watertown. Good luck girls!

The 6th Grade/JV Boys Basketball Tournament team was the Manchester Deanery School Division Champions which earned them the Manchester Deanery #1 seed for the State Tournament.  They won their first State Tournament game on Saturday beating St. Paul 32-26.  A loss on Sunday ended their season.  Given the limited amount of time they had to come together as a team, getting to the second round of the State Tournament is a great accomplishment.

Both the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams also enjoyed a great season!  The Varsity Girls won the regular season, school division tournament and overall Manchester Deanery Tournament.  The boys varsity also won their regular season and school division tournament.  Both teams made it through to win the sweet sixteen in the State Finals but lost in the quarter finals on Sunday in close scoring games.

Attention Parents Who Pick Up Students After School

For the safety of your child and other children, we are asking all parents who park on Saint James Street at afternoon pick-up to please get out of your car and come to the garage where the teachers stand when picking up your child(ren).  If there is not a parent or designated person getting each child, the teachers will be taking them back to the school to wait for someone to come get them.  We thank you for your understanding and corporation as we work to ensure that our children are safe and going home with the right person each day.
