Thank you to all our parents who registered their child(ren) to run on behalf of Saint James School at the Cross Country Challenge tomorrow.
Please read the following details concerning tomorrow’s event:
Registration tables will be located outside the main gate to Memorial Field at Manchester High School. Please arrive at the registration table 20-25 minutes prior to the race start time. Children will pick up their race t-shirt shirt (if registration was sent in by by 10/4), name tag, and race tag. Races will start promptly at the designated time, so please come early to allow for extra parking time and registration (it will be extremely busy at the High School on Saturday due to other events occurring at the same time).
For students registered after 10/4, please have them wear their SJS gym shirt.
All spectators (parents/guardians/siblings) MUST REMAIN OUTSIDE THE TRACK AND FIELD while kids are running. Parents and siblings may not run with the racers. There will be older students from cross country teams at the high school/middle school level who will be there to assist children on where to run. Also, NO DOGS are allowed at the event.
The event will take place rain or shine.
If you have any questions, please e-mail our parent volunteer coordinator, Amy Guenther, at jag8699@cox.net.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning for this fun, annual Manchester-wide event!

While SJS will be in session on Veteran’s Day (Monday, November 11th) please be advised that there will be no hot lunch (or milk) available that day.
The first middle school dance of the year is scheduled for next Friday, October 25th at St. Christopher School in East Hartford. The Middle School Dances – which are for students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th – begin at 7:00pm and run until 10:00pm. A signed permission slip is required for entry. The 2013-2014 Middle School Dance permission slip will be available next week and will be e-mailed out (as well as posted with the event on the website calendar), when we receive it.
Just a reminder that tonight we will be holding the Saint James “State of the School” Address in the school gym at 6:30pm. Please join us as we review the school’s performance in critical areas, outline our goals for the year, and share additional details surrounding projects the school is working on. In addition, Mr. Jason Hartling, Principal of East Catholic High School, will be joining us as a guest speaker. We look forward to seeing you there!
Boys Basketball Tryouts for Thursday will be the same as last week. Boys in grades 4-5 only from 5:30pm-7:00pm; Boys in grades 6-8 from 7:00pm-8:30pm.
Saturday at 1:00pm, Saint James School will host a performance by the CT Future Musicians Eastern Regional Band. The Eastern Regional Band is comprised of 89 specially selected students from all across the eastern part of the state, including 11 students from Saint James School. There is no charge for admission and all are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there!
The Middle School Dances bring together 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from four area Catholic schools – Saint James, Saint Bridget, Saint Christopher, and Assumption – for a fun evening of dancing and socializing.
Please note, a Middle School Dance Chair (or Co-Chairs) are needed in order for the 2013-2014 Middle School Dances to happen. We do not currently have anyone in that role, so Saint James’ participation in the schedule below is tentative pending parent volunteers from our school. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Kanute.
