Reminder: Read To Achieve Ticket Orders Due Thursday

Just a reminder that if your child reached their reading goal for Read To Achieve, they should have received a ticket order sheet home in their school folder last week, noting the awarded Free ticket.  If you will be attending the game (March 21, 2014 @ 7:00 pm), please note, orders are due back This Thursday (March 13th).

Tickets to the game will be sent home with your child(ren) in their folder next Wednesday (March 19th).

 

 

 

Ski Club Invites Non-Club Members to Last Ski/Board Trip on Friday, March 14th

The SJS Ski/Boarding Club cordially invites any SJS students/parents interested in joining the club next year or any SJS students/parents that would simply like to ski for the afternoon to attend our final trip on Friday, March 14th from 2:00pm-8:00pm (bus arrives back at SJS at 8:00 p.m.) at Mt. Southington. The cost is $20 for the bus ride and $25 for a lift ticket (this is the discounted group rate). Students must be in grades 3-8. Students in grades 3 and 4 must have a parent or guardian present with them on the trip.

5th Graders Learn About Colonial Punishments

As part of a lesson on early American history last week, 5th grade students learned about types of punishments that would have been handed out for various offenses back in colonial times.   Mrs. Wojtyna passed along these pictures of her class having fun with the various forms of  punishments students may have endured in a colonial classroom.

Gala Auction Item Update

Just added as an auction item for the 2014 Saint James School Gala next weekend – a WWE Superstar VIP Experience Package for two!  The winner of this item and their guest will enjoy Premium, ringside seating at the March 22nd WWE event at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.  In addition, the winner and a guest will attend a meet & greet autograph session with the WWE stars and take home lots of VIP merchandise items commemorating their evening.  The entire package is valued at $1,000.

Dress Down Day Tomorrow For Everyone

Mrs. Kanute would like to extend a great big Thank You to everyone who has contributed to the Gala and sent back their paperwork for next school year.  Along with her appreciation, she announced this morning that everyone may dress down tomorrow.

Congratulations SJS JV Girls

Congratulations to the Girls JV Basketball team on winning the Overall Deanery Championship title at last night’s game.  The boys JV and Boys Varsity teams were both beat by the Parish teams they played last night.  All teams now begin competing in the state championships this weekend.  Best of luck!

Saint James JV Boys Basketball Team Wins

Congratulations to the Saint James School boys JV Basketball team on their win against St. Christopher last night.  They will play tonight at St. Bridget at 7:00pm for the overall (parish vs. school) Deanery Championships.  Also playing for the overall Deanery Champion title tonight are the SJS JV Girls (6:00pm at St. Bridget) and the SJS Varsity Boys (8:00pm at St. Bridget).  The SJS Varsity Girls won the overall Deanery Championship game in their division last week. All Saint James Basketball teams play in their respective state tournaments beginning this weekend.  Best of luck to all the teams!
