Congratulations SJS FMI Students

Congratulations to the 21 Saint James School FMI band students selected to perform this past weekend at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain!

The concert featured the All-State Gala Band, comprised of students from the Archdioceses of Hartford, Norwich, and Bridgeport  who were nominated by their school band directors.  The concert also featured the prestigious All-State Jazz Band, Flute Choir, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band.  Students in these groups were selected, by audition, and represent some of the top musicians in the Future Musicians, Inc. band program. Approximately 300 student musicians, representing 54 elementary/middle parochial schools performed.

The Future Musicians All-State Symphonic and Concert Bands will also be performing on Monday, May 20, 2015 on the Plaza at Lincoln Center in New York City. The All-State Symphonic, Concert, and Jazz Bands will be performing on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 12:00 noon on the lawn of the Old State House in Hartford.

Great job Sabers!

Sixth Grade Terrarium Lab

As part of their Earth Science coursework, sixth grade students had fun creating terrariums as they reviewed concepts learned in the latest unit.  The terrariums are now being stored in the classroom greenhouse for ongoing observation.  A few pictures from the morning 6th grade science class are below.

Important: School Lunch Payment Program

*Please take time this weekend to register your family with EZSchoolPay.com if you have not already done so.*

Just a reminder that every student should have brought home information yesterday about the new hot lunch payment program as we transition to using EZSchoolPay.com for payment and tracking of SJS hot lunch accounts.  With the information sent home, there was a letter for each child that listed their personal pin numberPlease be sure to save this information.

The new program will go into effect on Monday with your current hot lunch account balance being transferred by the school directly into the EZSchoolPay system sometime between Friday afternoon and lunchtime Monday.

With this new system you will be able to:

  • Add payments to your child’s hot lunch account anytime using Visa or MasterCard
  • View meal transactions and current balances at any time
  • Set a low-balance e-mail alert to remind you when funds need to be added
