SJS JV Girls Win Deanery Championship

Last night the St. James JV Girls earned a hard fought victory against a tough St. Tim’s team, winning 29-21 in the Central CT Deanery Championship.  The win also earned the girls  a #1 seed in the upcoming State Tournament.  This marks the JV Girls fourth Deanery Championship in a row.  Coach Jaime Jablonecki said of the win, “Our girls rose to the challenge last night!  Saint Tim’s had the size advantage all night long, but in the 4th quarter these girls just refused to give up and their big hearts came through.  Saint James should be very proud of each and every one of these girls with how they represented our school.”  Great job Sabers!!

Junior Achievement

Thank you to all the UCONN student volunteers who brought the Junior Achievement program to Saint James School on Friday.

Through Junior Achievement, our K-8th grade students spend an entire day working on basic concepts of business and economics at an age-appropriate level.  Each grade has a specific “curriculum” the facilitators present in addition to bringing their own real-life experiences into the discussion.

It’s a fun day that ties in concepts like money management, good communication skills, and entrepreneurship as well as economic concepts and facts about the working world.

Below are pictures from several of the classrooms (Click to enlarge):
