Used Book Sale

Thank you so much to all our families and friends who have donated books in support of our SJS Used Book Sale to support new books for our school library!  We have a great selection of gently used books for a variety of reading levels.  The used book sale will be held during the school day on Thursday, May 26th.  All classes will be coming down to browse/purchase books.  All books will be priced at $1.00.  Please make a note to have your child(ren) bring cash to school on May 26th if you wish for them to shop during class time.  The used book sale will also remain open until 4:00pm so that parents can visit after pick-up and 2nd graders going on the field trip can shop when they return.

Drama Club Production Tonight

Please join us TONIGHT (Friday, May 20th) at 7:00pm as the 2016 Saint James School Drama Club presents Dorothy in Wonderland. Admission is $5.00 ($20 per family max). Our students did an amazing job during their dress rehearsal performance, which was held this morning for SJS students and staff.  Our Drama Club members and parent volunteers have worked really hard to bring this production to life – please encourage your family members and friends to attend as well!  Special thanks to Mrs. Canna for all her time and energy as volunteer chair of the 2016 Drama Club.  We hope to have more pictures from the show to add to the website and e-mail blast on Monday.

4th Graders Research Sea Creatures

As part of their science studies,  Saint James 4th grade students recently finished researching and writing a report on an assigned sea creature.  Research was gathered using at least one book and at least one website, with students utilizing some of their science class time to conduct research on the school’s iPads.  Students also designed a cover for their report during one of their weekly art classes.

For homework, 4th graders were tasked with creating a model of their animal using recyclable materials and/or craft-related items.  The finished projects were presented to classmates, giving students another opportunity to practice their presentation skills and allowing students to learn from their peers’ research.  Over the next few days, students will be showcasing/discussing their projects with students in some of the lower grades.  Below are a few pictures of students with their models and research reports (click to enlarge).
