Please drop by and join us in the school Cafeteria tomorrow morning (August 31st) from 7:55am-9:00am for our “Boo Hoo!/Woo Hoo!” Welcome Back Coffee & Danish Social – sponsored by the Saint James Home & School Association. Come catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and ask those last minute questions you may have! We look forward to seeing you!
Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy Saint James School Day at the Yard Goats game on Sunday. Special thanks to Mrs. Post for putting this great event together for our school! It was a beautiful afternoon and it was nice to see everyone catching up with school friends! (click pictures to enlarge)
Parents of students entering grades 5 – 8 next year: please remember if your child plans to run Cross Country, practice begins on September 5th. Please ensure that you have a copy of the sports health form ready for the first day of school (attached below) as well as a copy of the Cross Country participation form (also below).
SJS Cross Country Form 2017-2018
1st Practice: Tuesday, Sept. 5th immediately after school (kids will line up with “walkers” and be dismissed to Mrs. O’Neill after the bell) **
Practices: Mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Duration: Beginning Sept. 5th – November 5th (CT Middle School Championships)

Mrs. O’Neill is also in need of parent volunteers to help with this activity. If you like to run and are available to help out after school, please contact her at sjoneill2@yahoo.com.
Please be advised, teacher assignments for the 2017-2018 school year will be e-mailed by late Friday afternoon. If you don’t receive an e-mail with your child/ren’s teacher information by the end of day Friday, please contact the school on Monday or e-mail aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.
Please note, the last date to order school supplies online to receive them in time for school is this Sunday – August 13th.
This summer you have the option to order your child’s school supplies online and have them delivered directly to your home. In addition, Saint James School receives a percentage of every sale – convenience for you and a great way to support SJS! Plus, even if you already have some of the supplies leftover from prior years, you can choose not to include those in your purchase. New this year, you can also purchase items on our teacher wish lists! Visit schooltoolbox.com and select “Find Boxes Now” to check it out or to begin placing your order. You can see the information flyer here.

If your 1st-8th grade child will be using the school bus during the 2017-2018 school year and DID NOT use the school bus this past year, please contact the main office by Tuesday, June 27th and speak with Mrs. Sager to have them added to the bus list. Also, if you have MOVED and need to change your child’s bus stop, please also call Mrs. Sager by Tuesday, June 27th to let her know.
Incoming Kindergarten students and families new to the school for the 2017-2018 year do NOT need to call the office. We will automatically add your child to the bus list if you are a Manchester resident and selected “Bus Transportation” on your application form. If you are unsure what you listed and need to make sure your child is on the bus schedule, you may e-mail Mrs. Sager at lsager@saintjamesschool.net.
Please note, Tuesday is the last day to get your bus request in. The bus schedule is typically not available until a few days before school starts. We will e-mail that schedule out when it is available. (Incoming Kindergarten students will receive an individual e-mail with their child’s bus information).
Several weeks ago all parents, guardians, alumni, staff, and other friends of the school should have received a letter from Mrs. Kanute (along with the Spring SJS Community Newsletter) kicking off our 2017 Annual Fund Campaign. Annual Fund donations provide our school with funding for much-needed capital improvement projects that are not covered by tuition or supported by the SJS Foundation. This year, donations will help defray the cost of replacing another section of the school’s time-worn windows (in the cafeteria/gym wing of the school).
For those families and friends who have already donated, Thank You again for your support!! With your generosity, we are already over 35% of the way to our goal in just the first few weeks!
If you have not yet made a (tax-deductible) donation, we hope that you will consider helping Saint James School stay strong for the future by making a contribution today. Every donation – of every size – makes a difference!
Please visit www.saintjamesschool.net/annualfund to learn more and track our school’s progress toward our goal.
As always, we are very grateful for the ongoing, generous support of our wonderful school!
