Passing of Father Burns

We regret to inform you that (retired) Saint James Parish Priest Father William Burns passed away yesterday after a short battle with Pneumonia.  Parishioners and Saint James School students who had the pleasure of listening to his homilies know what a wonderful person he was; he will be greatly missed by those of us who knew him well.

As you may recall, just two weeks ago our Choir sang for the residents of The Residence at South Windsor Farms, where Father Burns recently resided. Father Burns was also with us to hear confessions (for Catholic students in grades 3-8) on December 15th.

Plans have not yet been made for his service but we did inform the students this morning of his passing, and we said several prayers for him together as a school community.

Mass Today

Special thanks to our team of 3rd grade students (and 8th grade altar servers) who helped at our school Mass today.  Our 5th graders also did a great job helping the Kindergarten students, who attended their first school Mass of the year this morning (two of our K students – pictured – had their 5th grade sibling as a buddy…so cute!).  Also, special thanks to Father Carlson for a wonderful, interactive homily to help remind our students about the true meaning of Christmas!

Pre-K Christmas Show

The Pre-K Christmas Show was held yesterday afternoon and was full of major cuteness!  Here are a few pictures of our Pre-K students (who have permission to be in our shared photos) during yesterday’s performance.  To view these pictures on our Facebook page, click HERE.
