Reminder: No School Tomorrow

As a reminder there is no school tomorrow Thursday, October 6th as all teachers will be at an offsite Catholic Curriculum Conference.

We are back in school on Friday and then off on Monday, October 10th for Columbus day.

Book & Art Club Grades 1 & 2

Just a few spots left!

Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Rafferty will be holding a book & art club session for students in 1st and 2nd grade on Friday, October 21st.  Students will read a book with Mrs. Carpenter and then work on a related craft project led by Mrs. Rafferty.  The session is open to twelve 1st graders and twelve 2nd graders on a first come, first served basis.  Any students that are wait-listed will have first priority for the December session.

If your 1st or 2nd grade student would like to participate, please RSVP using the attached form (the form and cash fee can be sent to the SJS main office via kid mail).

October Book & Art Club Permission Slip Grades 1&2

Pick-up for students participating (and not going to aftercare) will be outside the breezeway door at 3:00pm (please do NOT buzz in).

Book Fair – Last Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the last day to shop in person at the Saint James Scholastic Book Fair.  Parent’s are welcome to shop again tomorrow before school (7:15am – 7:45am) or after school (1:30 – 2:45pm).

East Catholic Open House

As a reminder, East Catholic will hold their Fall Open House this Thursday – October 6th beginning at 6:30pm.  You can RSVP here: Register for ECHS open house.

Celebrating St. Francis of Assisi

Today classes learned about St. Francis of Assisi in honor of his Feast Day (October 4th). Pre-Kindergarten students also enjoyed a blessing of the (stuffed) animals with Deacon Bill from St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Last Call: Basketball and Cheer Sign Ups

If your 4th – 8th grade student is interested in playing basketball for SJS this season, please make sure you have completed THIS FORM by the end of today.

If your 4th – 8th grade girl is interested in cheerleading for SJS this season, please make sure you have filled out THIS FORM by the end of today.

If you have not already done so, please make sure you are working on getting your student’s 2022-2023 Athletics Health Permission Form completed by their pediatrician so your child can start at the first practice.  Additional information will be sent out to all families that have expressed interest via the above forms in the weeks ahead.

 

Book Fair Fun!

Our Scholastic Book Fair is up and running!  The book fair is a great way to encourage reading and build home libraries.  It is also a great way to support our school as 50% of all purchases go directly to the school.

Student Council Interest Meeting

As a reminder from morning announcements, there will be a meeting after school on Monday (10/3) for any 6th – 8th grade students interested in running for Student Council this year.  Students should be picked up at 2:45pm in front of the main entrance (unless they are being dismissed to aftercare).

A note from home must be sent in with any student interested in participating to inform the homeroom teacher that he/she will be staying after school for the meeting.

SJS Basketball Interest Form

We are starting to plan for the upcoming Basketball season, which will run from November through March.  To help us get an idea of how many teams we will have and how many coaches we need, please fill out the form below if your child is interested in playing.  As a reminder, the Catholic school basketball league is open to boys and girls in grades 4 – 8.

Please note, a formal permission slip and additional information will be sent out in the weeks ahead to everyone that has expressed interest in playing.

If you have not already done so, please remember to get your child’s 2022-2023 Athletics Health Permission Form SIGNED by their Pediatrician in the days ahead.  They will not be able to practice until we have the signed form on file.
