Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition

Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for hosting a Free Throw Competition at SJS this past Saturday.  Winners of the regional competition (all SJS students) were as follows:

Age 9 – Chase McCarthy

Age 10 – Matthew LaMonica

Age 11 – Luke Szupryczynski

Age 12 – Olivia McCarthy

Winners will all move on to the state tournament, which will be held at St. Paul High School in Bristol on Saturday, February 18th.  Great job Sabers!

Catholic Schools Week Mass

This morning we had a wonderful Mass with Father Marcin and Father Jaime to honor our volunteers and celebrate the special community we share here at Saint James School. 

This Week: Catholic Schools Week!

This week Saint James School will join other Catholic Schools across the nation in celebrating of Catholic Schools Week.

Since 1974 Catholic Schools Week is a national celebration of Catholic education and an opportunity to recognize the importance, the value, and the contributions of Catholic education in our society.

Reminder: Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest

Our local Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Basketball Free Throw Competition on Saturday January 28, 2023 in the Saint James School Gymnasium. The competition is open to boys and girls ages 9 thru 14 and each competitor competes within their own age and gender group.  Registration begins at 12 noon and all contestants must be accompanied by a parent.  We hope to see many of our SJS students participating in this fun, annual competition!

Uniforms at Mass This Weekend

For all families attending Mass this weekend (Saturday or Sunday) at any of the 4 churches in our Parish, please encourage your student to wear their uniform to Mass in honor of Catholic Schools Week.

Ski/Snowboard Club Tomorrow

As a reminder for students riding the bus to Mt. Southington tomorrow, the gymnasium doors will be open at morning arrival for students to drop off their ski/snowboard equipment and bags with snowpants, helmets, gloves, etc.   Students will have an opportunity to change out of their uniform attire in the afternoon before boarding the bus.  Students will receive their lift tickets on the bus.  Please make sure your child has a note informing their teacher they will be going to ski club after school.

Also, please note that the lesson times have been moved to give our students more time to get off the bus and get ready.  The first lesson will now start at 4:00pm (instead of 3:30).  The next two lesson times are 5:00pm and 6:00pm.

Mass on Monday

To kick off Catholic Schools Week here at school, this coming Monday (January 30th) our K – 8 students will attend Mass at St. James Church at 9:00am.

During Mass, we will be honoring all of the volunteers that help make our school such a special place for our students to grow and learn.  Therefore, we are asking all volunteers – HSA Event Helpers, Coaches, Activity Coordinators, School Council Volunteers, etc.  – who can make it work in their schedule, to please join us at Mass on Monday morning.
