Santa Visit!

We had an extra special guest visit us at SJS today!  Thank you to our 8th grade helpers for assisting Santa with distributing candy canes to all the classrooms!

2nd Grade Gingerbread Houses

Yesterday our 2nd graders participated in the much-loved, long-standing tradition of making gingerbread houses to bring home for Christmas.

Tardy Arrival Reminder

We are seeing an exceptionally high number of tardy arrivals in our K-8 program lately.  Tardy arrivals are disruptive to the classroom and teacher as students are walking into class during prayer and announcements.  While we understand occasional issues arise (unusual traffic, etc), these should be few and far between.  If your child is not making it to school by 7:45am, please adjust your morning routine accordingly.

In addition, if your child does come to school tardy, our policy is that an adult MUST come to the main office (with the student) to sign them in.  Thank you to the parents that have routinely followed our posted protocol.

100th Anniversary T-Shirts

Merry Christmas from Saint James School!  As part of our Centennial Anniversary Celebration and thanks to the support of several local businesses – we are excited to announce that SJS is gifting all current students and staff a 100th Anniversary Commemorative T-Shirt this Holiday season.  Shirts will be coming home with students today or tomorrow.  Please make sure the shirt fits your child and that you keep it in a good place as we will be designating special days throughout the remainder of the school year for students (and staff) to wear their shirts to school.

A huge THANK YOU to the following local businesses that helped make this possible for our school through their generosity:   Shady Glen, Westown Pharmacy, the SJS Foundation, and our t-shirt vendor Artisan Ink!

Penny Challenge: Gallon-Size Containers Needed

During the month of January, Saint James School classes will participate in a Penny Challenge in honor of our “CENT”ennial anniversary!  Additional details will be forthcoming shortly, but for now we are asking families to send in to their child’s homeroom teacher any empty plastic GALLON size (only) jugs you have at home (these will be used in the classrooms for students to put pennies in).  And, please start saving those pennies as we get ready to embark on this fun school-wide challenge when we return from break!

Hot Lunch Update

The town of Manchester has informed us that Hot Lunch for grades K-8 will continue to be offered free of charge throughout the month of January (as you may recall the funding supporting this program for our school was scheduled to run out at the end of December). We will continue to share updates regarding our Hot Lunch program as we receive them from the town.

Awesome Christmas Artwork from some of our elementary classes. 💚❤️

Spiritwear Orders

For families that ordered SJS spiritwear and opted for the free delivery to SJS, orders will be available for you to pick-up in the SJS breezeway at dismissal tomorrow (Tuesday) from 1:40pm – 2:15pm.  Please note that our vendor has conveniently packaged all items discretely in boxes in case they are being given as a gift.  If you need to make alternate arrangements to pick-up your items, please email Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.

Gr. 7 & 8 Dance

A huge thank you to Mr. & Mrs. McCarthy for all their efforts in making our 7th & 8th grade dance a success this past Friday!  In addition to decorating the entire gym themselves, they also provided the food and drinks for attendees to enjoy. We are very grateful to the McCarthys for spearheading this for our students, as well as to the other parents and staff that chaperoned the event.
