Mass Representatives Needed

National Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in our Country.  During Catholic Schools week (which runs January 29th – February 4th) Catholic schools across the country will be celebrating and highlighting faith-based education in a variety of ways.

In our Parish, we are asking SJS students to represent our school by attending any of the weekend Masses throughout the Parish in their school uniform.  In addition, we are looking for ONE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE for select Masses occurring the weekend of the 28th & 29th to hand out a special gift from our school as parishioners leave the Church. With them will be a second student representative, from our sister school St. Bridget  (student representatives in grades 7 & 8 will receive service hour credit).

If your child would like to help, please SIGN UP HERE.  In addition to each helper, we are looking for one alternate per mass in case our primary student volunteer cannot make it.

Student representatives and alternates should be in Grades 2 – 8, please.

Prospective Family Open House Event

During Catholic School’s Week SJS will host an Open House for families considering our Kindergarten through 8th Grade program for the 2023-2024 school year.  If you know of anyone who may be considering Saint James School, please invite them to attend.

Questions regarding admissions for next year may be directed to our Admissions & Advancement Director, Amy Guenther (aguenther@saintjamesschool.net).  Applications for the 2023-2024 school year are already being accepted for NEW SJS students.

For students currently in our Pre-K3 – 7th grade program, returning student registration forms will be emailed to you on February 1st (if you have a new student that you would like to join us next year and have not yet reached out to Mrs. Guenther, please do so ASAP).

Thank you to everyone who has already liked, commented, and/or shared our Open House post on Facebook and Instagram…. If you have not already done so, please take a few moments to do so now by clicking HERE for Facebook and HERE for Instagram.  Thank you!

Book & Art Club Fun

For yesterday’s Book & Art Club, the group read the silly story “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow,” then made snowmen.  Here are a few pics from Mrs. Carpenter

Parking Reminder: Do Not Block Driveways

As a reminder, please do not block our neighbors’ driveways when dropping off in the morning or picking up in the afternoon – even if you are only planning to be there a few minutes.  We are fortunate to have a very good relationship with our neighbors but need each of our parents/guardians doing their part to help us maintain that. Thank you for your attention to this and sharing this information with anyone who drops off/picks up your student that may not be on our email.

Drama Club Starts Tomorrow

The first Drama Club Meeting (for students in grades 6 – 8 that registered to participate) will be held tomorrow after school until 4:30pm.  Please send a note in to the homeroom teacher so they know your student will be staying after school.

Please Join Us: SJS Volunteer Recognition

Volunteers play a critical role here at Saint James School. Volunteers run many of our fundraising events, social events, and classroom parties. In addition, our sports coaches are all volunteers, many of our after-school activities are run by volunteers, our Saint James School Council (and related committees) are all volunteers, along with the Saint James School Foundation members.  Volunteers provide countless hours tutoring students and helping with marketing-related duties. In short, volunteers play a very important role here at Saint James School!!

As such, one of our important activities during Catholic Schools Week (January 29th – February 4th) is to show our appreciation to our volunteers for their “Service” to Saint James School. This will be done with a special recognition for volunteers during our 9:00am Mass on Monday, January 30th.

Please join us so that all the students of Saint James School can see the faces of the dedicated parents and family members who donate their time and talents to helping making Saint James School such a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.

Volunteers able to attend are asked to please complete the following form (link below) by Friday, January 20th.
