Used Sneaker Collection

A member of our community is collecting used sneakers (all sizes) to donate to families in need.  If you have any old sneakers at your house and would like to donate them, a collection box will be available in the SJS breezeway through next Wednesday.

Owl Pellets

SJS 3rd graders have been learning about small animals and habitats as part of their science lessons.  Today students dissected (sanitized) owl “pellets,” as part of their lessons on owls and what they eat.  Third graders are also currently working on their small animal research reports.

2nd Grade STEM Club

STEM Club will be held on Wednesday, February 15 for students in Grade 2.  If your child would like to attend, please complete the permission form below.  Space is limited but any student who is not accepted this month will have priority next time.

Pre-K4 Big School Fun

Today our Pre-K4 students had a blast playing in the “big school” gymnasium!  While they were at the K-8 school, our 4-year-olds also enjoyed a special story-time in the “big school” library with Mrs. Tierney.

Update: Returning Family Registration

The returning family registration email, with paperwork and information on enrolling students for the 2023-2024 school year, is expected to be sent out sometime tomorrow.  We apologize for the delay.

It’s Time to RSVP: SJS Roaring Twenties Gala!

Yesterday your student should have brought home an informational flyer and RSVP card for our upcoming ROARING TWENTIES GALA (please ensure they pass it along to you).

We are excited to bring back this fun, adults-only event in its traditional format – especially this year as we celebrate and honor Saint James School’s 100th anniversary.  The event will be held around the corner at beautiful Cheney Hall and the capacity is limited so please get your RSVP in early (make checks out to Saint James School HSA).

* AUCTION DONATIONS & SPONSORSHIPS *

If you would like to donate an item to the Auction portion of this year’s Gala, please reach out to Patricia McCarthy at HSA@saintjamesschool.net OR send a copy of the completed Gala Auction Donation Form to the main office.  If you or someone you know would like to advertise their business (or send well wishes to your child’s class, etc.) advertising and sponsorship information can be found here: Gala Sponsorship Form

Hard copies of the Gala Donation and Sponsorship Forms will be available in the SJS main office.

FREE Hot Lunch Program Ending

As a reminder, the FREE Hot Lunch program will end on February 28th.

Please take a moment over the next week or so to check on your child’s lunch account balance and add funds if you plan to have them continue ordering lunch from the school.

A couple of important notes:

*If you had provided a credit card to EZSchoolPay to change a certain amount each month, the town has switched systems and those cards on file have been lost.  You will need to re-sign up.

*You can add money to your child’s account online (a convenience fee will apply) at https://www.ezschoolpay.com or by sending in cash or a check to the school (no fee).  The check must be made out to “Manchester Hot Lunch Program” and all funds should be in an envelope clearly labeled with the child’s name.  If you have not yet signed up for an EZSchoolPay Account and no longer have the email from SJS with your child’s hot lunch account number, you may email aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.

*If you would like to apply for the free or reduced priced meal program for the remainder of the school year, this can also be done on the ezschoolpay website.  A hard copy of the free/reduced meal form can be found HERE.

*SJS students are now listed under “Manchester Private Schools” in the EZSchoolPay portal.

Please direct questions to Amy Guenther at aguenther@saintjamesschool.net.

Collection for Little Sisters of the Poor

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Catholic Schools Week Collection for the Little Sisters of the Poor.  The Sisters who came by to collect items were so grateful for the wonderful generosity of our school community!
