Archbishop Blair to Say 11:00am Mass at Saint James Church this Sunday

We are excited to announce that Archbishop Blair will be visiting Saint James Church this Sunday, January 5th, and will be our celebrant for the 11:00am Mass.  This is a special honor for us and we invite all Saint James School families to join us for the 11:00am Mass, followed by a special reception in the church hall.

Reminder: Dress Down Day Tomorrow (Thursday)

Happy New Year!  We hope everyone is well rested and ready to get back to school!  Just a reminder that when we return tomorrow, January 2nd, it will be a dress down day in honor of your generosity with the toy drive.  If we do not have school on Thursday due to weather, the dress down day will be on Friday.

Dress Down Day – January 2nd

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who bought in toys for our Christmas toy drive.  Many children who would have gone without will now have presents under the tree thanks to your kindness and generosity.  In honor of your extremely generous support,  we will have a dress down day on Thursday, January 2nd – the day we come back from break.  Merry Christmas!

Lost & Found Items – Pictures

Below are pictures of the items still remaining in our lost & found (clicking the picture will enlarge it).  The tables will be set up through the end of day Thursday.  Please feel free to stop by at morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, or during the day to see if any of these “lost” items belong to your family.  After Thursday, any remaining sweatpants, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, etc. will be delivered to a local shelter or, if appropriate, sent over to our uniform closet.

Saint James School Family Directory

Please be on the lookout for the Saint James School Family Directory, coming home with students today or tomorrow.  One copy is being sent home per family (it will come home with the youngest child).  Please remember, parents had to opt in or out of the directory, so not all SJS families will be included.

Box Tops Winners

Congratulations to Mrs. Cunningham’s 1st grade class for winning the November dress down day. Her class brought in 731 box tops for the month.  In second place was Mrs. St. Jean with over 600 box tops.  Mrs. Cunningham will let her class know when their dress down day will occur.

2nd Grade Gingerbread Houses

Last Thursday, our 2nd graders participated in a much loved tradition – making gingerbread houses to bring home for Christmas.  Mrs. Buono and Mrs. Crocini, both of whom retired from Saint James School several years ago, returned to help and join in the fun (pictures below):

Reminder: SJS Toy Drive December 2nd – 20th

Just a reminder that the Saint James School student council is collecting toys for Community Partners in Action.  Families helped by this organization have a particular need for Christmas presents for their children – these toys and gifts are greatly appreciated!

Between now and December 20th, each grade can help by bringing in the following:

Pre-Kindergarten: Toys for babies and toddlers

Grades K-3: toys for ages 3-8

Grades 4-6: toys for ages 8-12 (i.e. Nerf sports toys and arts/crafts kits are popular)

Grades 7-8: gift cards (i.e. Target, McDonalds, etc.), arts/crafts kits or other items appropriate for ages 13-14.

Attached here is a copy of the flyer that was sent home with students
