Accreditation Team to Visit Next Week

As you know, Saint James School is Accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, a distinction that ensures a school maintains high academic standards. Every 10 years, schools must go through the Accreditation process to keep this distinction. For Saint James School, this will occur next week.

This coming Sunday, SJS staff will be welcoming a team of 7 peers, from other member schools, to Saint James for the Accreditation process.  This team will be with us through Wednesday, October 21st, studying all aspects of our school including our curriculum, facility, processes, and communication, to name a few. They will be visiting classrooms and will be interviewing select staff, students, and parents.  The faculty and staff at Saint James School have been working on getting ready for the Accreditation team’s visit for well over a year.

Should your child(ren) come home and discuss visitors at the school next week, please know this is who they will be referring to.  Also, please take a moment to welcome members of the Accreditation team to our school should you see them at dropoff, pick-up, aftercare, etc.

Cross Country Team Shines Again

The Saint James Cross Country team competed at Vernon Middle School yesterday afternoon. Rarely does a team accomplish a perfect score, which is to place the top 5 runners in the top 5 positions but that is exactly what the girls accomplished. Leading the field with an impressive 1st place finish was Lindsay O.  Isabelle B., Ally A., Maeve W., and Kaitlyn N.  followed close behind in places 2nd-5th.

The boys also had an impressive day. Aiden P. led the Sabers, placing 1st in a field of 61 runners. The boys team nearly won the meet, placing 2nd by only 2pts. Nathan M. and Matthew S. placed 8th & 9th, while Nick G. and Dominic C. finished in 11th & 13th place.

Congratulations to our runners on another impressive day!

Manchester Police Activities League (PAL)

The Manchester Police have asked us to share with our parents information about the town’s PAL (Police Activities League) programs available to Manchester residents.  The programs include Judo for children as young as 5 years of age, a Mountain Biking Club for students 12-18 years of age, and a Karate program.  If you are interested in learning more, please visit www.manchesterctpal.org or stop by the Saint James School office to pick up a brochure about the programs offered.

Basketball Registration Fees Due by Friday

Please note, all 4th – 8th grade students who will be playing basketball this year must turn in their sports registration fees and athletics registration forms (if not already submitted) to the school office by Friday, October 16th.  The sports fees are as follows:

All 4th & 5th grade boys (intramural program)  – $40.00

All 6th – 8th grade boys (JV & Varsity) – $65.00

All 4th – 8th grade girls (JV & Varsity) – $65.00

Please note, the sports informational sheet that was sent home listed all 4th & 5th grade as $40, which was incorrect. There is currently no intramural program for the girls due to a much lower number of female students wishing to play each year.  We apologize for the confusion.

Please make checks out to Saint James School and note your child(ren)’s name(s) and basketball in the comments section of the check.
