The SJS cross country team was back at Illing Middle School yesterday. This time it was a tri-meet against Illing and Ellington. The girls again raced to a first place finish with the top 5 runners for Saint James taking 2nd – 6th place! Lindsay O’Neill led the charge, placing 2nd overall with Isabelle Burke, Ally Ansaldi, Kaitlyn Nyberg, and Liz Munns running close together for 3rd-6th place respectively.
Winning the boys race with a first place finish was Kyle Pelletier, who bettered his time by almost a full minute from last week’s race. AJ Bushnell, who has been consistently improving his time, took 2nd for the team and 5th overall. Dominic Cavallo and Kevin Leger both ran strong races, placing 8th and 9th, while 5th grader Eric Ansaldi ran his best race, placing 14th and bettering his best time by a minute and a half.
The team’s next competition will be the McGee Invitational at Sage Park in Berlin on Saturday. All runners must be at the course by 8:15am.

Tomorrow: Grandparents’ & Special Persons’ Day – 12:05 Dismissal Day
/in Uncategorized /by Saint James SchoolTomorrow, Thursday, October 20th, Saint James School will celebrate Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ Day. Please remember that a special person is an aunt, uncle, friend of the family…not a parent, please.
Visitors will enter through the school Gym. Doors will open at 9:45am. If your child is not going home with their grandparent or special person, dismissal will be at 12:05pm. Aftercare will be in session.
Please inform your special person what teacher your child has to help with getting them to the correct classroom.
Regular Uniforms Tomorrow

SJS 2016 State of the School Presentation

During this annual, informational meeting we will be discussing our school’s performance in critical areas such as enrollment, finances, and standardized testing as well as current major initiatives and more. We encourage all SJS parents to come be part of this informative evening.

McGee Invitational Results
/in St. James Notices /by Saint James SchoolCongratulations to Coach O’Neill and her SJS XC runners on another stellar performance at the McGee Invitational this past Saturday. Each race was broken down by gender and grade, with more than 100 runners per race competing. Top performers in their respective events were as follows:
6th grade: Abby Ray and Kaitlyn Nyberg received trophies for placing 3rd and 5th respectively. Ben Creamer took home a medal for placing 19th (medals were awarded to the top 20 finishers).
7th grade: Lindsay O’Neill also had a great race winning a trophy for her 3rd place performance. AJ Bushnell took home a medal for an 18th place finish.
8th grade: Isabelle Burke brought home a medal, placing 19th. Kyle Pelletier placed 13th, earning a medal.
The team’s next race is tomorrow – Wednesday – at Timothy Edwards Middle School in South Windsor. Good luck Sabers!

SJS Rocks at Manchester Elementary School XC Challenge!
/in St. James Notices /by Saint James SchoolCongratulations to all the runners at Saturday’s Manchester Elementary School Cross Country Challenge at Manchester High School. SJS runners took home 24 individual medals (given to the first 15 finishers in each race) and an amazing 4 First Place Trophies and 2 Second Place Trophies (based on the combined score of the top 5 finishers from each school). This means, SJS scored in the top 2 (out of 11 Manchester schools participating) in 6 of the 8 races! Top scorers were recognized on the morning announcements today.
A huge thank you to all the parents, students, and teachers who came out for this fun event and also to our awesome parent volunteers: Mr. & Mrs. Piotrowski, Mrs. Caldwell, Mrs. Poth, and Mrs. Herr.
