Important: Extended Day Registration Reminder

As a reminder, all returning families who will be using the Extended Day program this coming school year must re-register with the program by August 1st to help us determine staffing levels.  If you misplaced your paperwork or will NOT be using the Extended Day program this coming year (and you DID use it last year), please contact Jean Burdick at jburdick@saintjamesschool.net to let her know.

All families new to Saint James School this year who will be using the Before and/or After School Care program are also asked to register their child(ren) by August 1st.  Thank you.

Reminder: Online Ordering of School Supplies

This summer you again have the option to order your child’s school supplies online and have them delivered directly to your home!  In addition, Saint James School receives a percentage of every sale – convenience for you and a great way to support SJS!  Plus, if you already have supplies left over from prior years, you can choose not to include those in your purchase. Visit the School Toolbox Website (click to access) and type in St. James School Manchester, CT in the search box.

Please remember to order supplies well in advance to ensure they arrive before the first day of school.

If you plan to purchase the supplies at a local retailer, the 2016-2017 supply lists are available under the Forms & Documents section of our website: Click HERE and scroll down to General School Documents.

SJS Sports Health Form

If your child will be running Cross Country for SJS this year (available to grades 5th – 8th), please remember to have the school’s sports health form filled out by your doctor before school starts.  Cross Country usually begins soon after school is back in session and your child will not be able to participate until the school has this document – signed by the child’s doctor – on file.  As a reminder, this form only needs to be completed one time a year and can be used for all SJS sports.

New E-Mail For Tuition Questions

Please be advised our Tuition Manager – Denise Mayo – has closed down her MSN e-mail address.  Please update your e-mail address books to ensure you are using the dmayo@saintjamesschool.net e-mail address going forward.  She is also available via phone at 860.643.5088 (select Option 7 on the main menu to be directly connected).  Our school website has been updated to reflect this change.

HSA GIVES

Multi-Ethnic Group Of People's Arms Raised Holding Letters That Form Give

This year we are starting HSA GIVES (Get Involved, Value Everyone, Share) as a way to help the school and church communities reach out to the local community.  We will be organizing several activities over the year to help improve the lives of those around us.  Some ideas include Christmas caroling at assisted-living facilities, making/delivering sandwiches to MACC, and collecting items for food pantries and homeless shelters.

Volunteers will be needed to organize various activities.

To volunteer or find out more information, please e-mail HSA@SaintJamesSchool.net.

Dine Out Nights

MoesDineOutEvery month a local restaurant hosts SJS families and donates a percentage of the evening’s sales back to our school.  This is a fun way to meet up with friends for dinner and tasty way support our school!

To volunteer or find out more information, please e-mail HSA@SaintJamesSchool.net.

Easter Event

Easter_Egg_Hunt_wide_t

This will be a new event this year.  We will be organizing a fun mix of games, crafts and tasty treats to help celebrate Easter.

Volunteers will be needed to organize activities prior to the event, and to help set-up, run and clean-up the event.

This event is in need of a chair.  If you would like to help organize this event please let us know by e-mailing HSA@SaintJamesSchool.net.

Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ Day

image1 IMG_2772This annual tradition is a wonderful way for students to share a morning with a grandparent or special person.  Guests are honored at a ceremony in the gym where various grades share poems, skits, and songs and also enjoy a concert by the school band.  Following the ceremony, guests visit the classrooms.

Prior to the event, volunteers are needed to assemble raffle baskets with provided items.  The morning of the event, volunteers assist in set-up, serving, and clean up of refreshments and greeting guests.

This year’s event chair is Linda Carpenter.  To volunteer or find out more information, please e-mail HSA@SaintJamesSchool.net.

Mother & Daughter Tea

In May, girls in all grades may invite mom or a special lady in their life to a Spring tea party.  Tea & lemonade, tea sandwiches & treats, crafts & games, and lots of fun make this event a great way to share some special “girl time!”

Volunteers are needed prior to the event to help prepare food and decorations and organize activities and crafts.  The day of the tea party, we need several moms to help set-up, serve and clean-up.

This year’s event chairs are Kate Davis and Keshet Spadaccini.  To volunteer or find out more information, please e-mail HSA@SaintJamesSchool.net.
