Gala Dress Down Day

As a Thank You to everyone who contributed to the 2017 Gala class baskets and supported the school’s Gala efforts in various ways, we will be having a Dress Down Day on April 26th.  All students are welcome to participate.

Parent Volunteers Needed

With the recent announcement of Mrs. Kanute’s retirement, we are beginning the process of hiring a new Principal for Saint James School. We are looking for two (2) parent volunteers to be part of the search committee. If you are interested please send your contact information to our school board chair Nicholas Roy at schoolboard@saintjamesschool.net by Friday, April 21.

Here is the announcement that was sent out on April 4th about the retiring staff in case you missed it.

No Soccer This Weekend

Please be advised, SJS soccer games for this weekend have been cancelled due to field conditions.  There are no games on Easter weekend (April 15).  Individual coaches will contact team parents directly if there will be practice next week.

Extended Day Statements

The March Extended Day billing statements are available from Ms. Jean.  If you used the extended day program in March, please stop down and grab yours if you have not already done so.

Egg-cellent Music

Attached are a few cute pictures from Ms. Labowski’s 1st grade class.  SJS Music Education teacher, Mrs. Archangeli, talked to the kids about maracas and helped the students made their own special Easter Egg maracas, which they used as they sang.

Spring Recess Next Week!

As a reminder, there is no school all of next week (April 10th – 14th) for spring recess.  We will return to school on Monday, April 17th.

On behalf of the staff and administration at Saint James School, we wish you a fun and relaxing April break and a joyous Easter with your family and friends!

Lenten Prayer Service Friday Morning

All students, faculty, parents, and other guests of our students are invited to join us tomorrow – FRIDAY, April 7th – at 7:30am in Ms. O’s middle school classroom (top floor, Room B207) for another special Lenten Prayer Service.  Please take this time and/or encourage your child(ren) to join us in prayers for family, friends, peace, and other special intentions.

We look forward to seeing you and/or your child(ren) there.

Kindergarten Easter Egg Fun

Even through the weather was not cooperative for the annual Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt to be outdoors, the kids still had tons of fun “hunting” for eggs in the gym yesterday!

Movie Night Tomorrow!

Come watch “SING” tomorrow (4/7) at Family Movie Night!  It will be a great way to kick-off April vacation and to spend time with friends.  Please see the event flyer here for details and follow this link to sign up.

Parents, please feel free to bring along a chair if you’d rather not sit on the gym floor.  We will also have some chairs for you to use.  We are just asking that all chairs be set up in the back so as not to block the view for the children on the floor.

Spirit Sticks will be sold at Movie Night!  Spirit sticks make great Easter egg fillers so be sure to get a few while your child is busy watching the movie!

3rd Graders Learn About Owls

SJS 3rd graders have been learning about small animals and habitats as part of their science lessons. Students are working on researching, writing, and illustrating a short book about an assigned animal. Yesterday, Mrs. Phelan’s class dissected (sanitized) owl “pellets,” as they learned about owls and what they eat (click pictures to enlarge).  The kids were excited to have retired SJS 3rd Grade teacher Mrs. Camposeo come back to join in the fun!  Mrs. Moran’s class will be doing the owl pellet dissection after April break.
